I am getting ready to update my 2 750ti cards, which I only use for folding@home, have for a couple years.  I am looking for a 1-2 1050 or 1060 that do not require a power connector.  Though I have a good enough evga PSU, I don't like the cables and it's nice to not use up more power on a relatively cheap set of GPU.

I got an email from evga about the:
EVGA GeForce GTX 1650 SC ULTRA GAMING GDDR6, 04G-P4-1257-KR, 4GB GDDR6, Dual Fan, Metal Backplateon sale on NewEgg, but it appears this has a 6-pin connector.

I am looking for relatively similar cards but 1650 or 1660 with no power connector.

Also, is it better, for folding, to have the matured GDDR5 or the newly updated GDDR6?

These are only going to be used for folding.  I use my 1080 for gaming and will be getting a 3080, when those do finally get released, likely later this year.

Hi,

We have the 1050Ti SC Gaming which does not require external power cables.

It should be best to use the latest GDDR6, as it will be faster and perform better.  However, if you want a GPU without need for power cables, the 1050Ti is best.

Peter

How does that compare to this one:

https://www.newegg.com/evga-geforce-gtx-1650-super-04g-p4-1257-kr/p/N82E16814487496?Description=04G-P4-1257-KR&cm_re=04G-P4-1257-KR-_-14-487-496-_-Product&quicklink=true

This was linked in the evga sale email thought this one has a 6-pin.

Why are you comparing with a product you won't use? There's not a GTX 1660 model without a PCIe connector as the design power of the GPU is over 75 watts.
Secondarily, compare in what manner? Since we've no idea what folding client you'll be using, how could we answer that?

Hi,

Between the  1650 SC Ultra and the 1050Ti SC Gaming:
400Mhz More Boost clock, and 1Ghz more on the VRAM for the 1650 SC Ultra.  However the 1050Ti is a low profile card.
