Hello,
I just received this 'Titan X' and was about to install it before I realized: I only have a 500W PSU. Would it be a bad idea to run the card with this current set-up? ... will anything badHappen?
Did I need to look into upgrading my wattage?
Should I just plug the card up with the 500W and hope for the best?
Help!
Thanks.

Recommended system wattage for that card is a 600w psu, however, you may be able to get away with less. See what your system needs with the following calculator... https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator

Note: Since your psu is bronze rated unit I would definitely upgrade to 600w gold unit instead.

You might be able to get away with using that 500W unit but it may be heavily taxed under load resulting in more heat and consequently more fan noise.

Worst that could happen is your PC would do things like shut down/restart or freeze up or black/blue screen under load if 500 watts or the amps on the +12V rail  is insufficient..Won't hurt anything..You can try it and see how it rolls.

See what the PSU calculator says, but I would looking into a higher wattage/better PSU too.

I have yet to perform any sort of "Stress-Test" ... but, from what I can surmise:
I went ahead and connected the card using just the 500W+PSU that I'd had available and can affirmatively say that it's operating nominally.
...
Can having insufficient power cause your computer to idle / hang? Wouldn't it just Shut-Off completely if it weren't sufficient power? >.<

A Lepa N500 has a single +12V rail with 34A which means all 12V things run off of one single rail, it doesn't have multiple +12V rails like some PSUs do.

The +12V rail also powers the CPU..So if the CPU isn't getting enough voltage/ampereage/wattage because the Titan X is using a lot, anything can happen.

I would get PSU of at least the recommended wattage if you're having issues.
