EVGA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER SC ULTRA GAMING 08G-P4-3067-KR +  EVGA 750 GQ 210-GQ-0750-V1 80+ GOLD 750 210-GQ-0750-V1 are giving unacceptable levels of coil whine coming from the GPU.

Specs
Motherboard: MSI x470 Gaming Plus Max
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
GPU:EVGA listed above
RAM: 0G.Skill Ripjaws ddr4 2400C15D-32GVR
M2 Sata III
PSU: EVGA 750 Listed above
144 Hz Acer XG270HU monitor with freesync / gsync enabled.

Why I know its GPU coil whine.  Powering down the system and using BIOS to put all fans to 100% causes 0 whine at all, it sounds like you would assume from fans at 100%.  In cpu intensive applications like cinebench there is no noise what-so-ever.  I also ran CPU stress test on CPU-Z for ~10 mins and had no noise.   When I load any game there is instantly a tattoo gun like whine coming from the gpu.  Most people say oh its no problem just deal with it.  I paid 550 for a GPU / PSU combo that is actually unusable in its current condition.

I have attempted using VGA slot 1/2/3 on the PSU and each just produces a different (but somewhat similar) level of whine under load.  PSU eco mode is off if that matters for any reason.  It seems to only whine above 900 mV and is below that it is fine.

Anyway, in an attempt to not whine more than my gpu, the gist of the post is above.  Anyone run into this problem and have any advice?

Everyeone's getting coil whine nowadays as we've pushed the FPS envelope with more powerful GPUs and higher refresh rate screens.  To remedy this, cap your FPS to 120 or less till the coil whine is beareble.

I have capped it at 60 FPS and tested that the fps is 60 in many games.  The voltage still jumps from 650 mV to 1000 mV and begins to whine anywhere above base load.

If it's unbearable at this point, I would get a hold of EVGA during business hours.

So just cap your voltage at 900 mv using msi afterburner.

Press CTRL+F while msi afterburner is open to open the voltage/frequency curve editor. Select the 900 mv point on the curve.  Press CTRL+L right after selecting your voltage/frequency point on the curve. Press the check mark button on the main gui to apply your changes. Done.

Note: This will cause your gpu to at 900 mv 24/7, so to allow the card to downclock at idle simply open the voltage/frequency curve editor again and press CTRL+L, and then click apply on the main gui to allow the card to idle down at idle.

What kind of FPS are you seeing the whine at ?

extremely high FPS makes most whine

OMG, I've been reading EK's articles like a school boy going for exams and never came across this one. Thank you!

Also of note:

If you use an UPS backup that isn't pure sine wave, it can cause a lot of coil whine in GPUs. Easy test, if you are using an UPS, is to plug the computer straight into the wall and test again.

Just got my 2060 super sc ultra 3 weeks ago and love the zero rpm fans I just love it!! I to have the coil whine when it ramps up!! But it's all I hear from my rig!! Everything else is fine so it makes the whine just a little more noticable!! I dont care I Love this card I've posted heaven and superposition benchmarks and compared to the 2070 supers that were posted I was couple hundred points below them and with 1000+ on memory and 110+on core I match and just edge them out.. 3798 super position extreme 1080p and 3163 in heaven but would like to have more comparisons!! I'm impressed!!! Love this card and will learn to love the whine!!

Try capping Frame rate to 140 ... empty scenes can let the FPS scream to very high numbers ... makes coil whine increase
