Thanks I may look into making a backup, reading other posts in this forum seems I'm not the only one having issues with the fans operation on anEVGA 20x0 card so think I'll try to be patient and see if a fix comes out.

Has anyone received a bios update or permanent fix for this card?  Yesterday while just browsing the internet i hear the fans twice spin up full speed for a couple seconds than back down, then a few seconds later the fans go full speed for 7-10 seconds.  Also during gaming it's rather loud though not as loud as full speed.

Normal.  As ambient temps rise (spring/summer), the fans will kick in to cool the GPU and once it's cool they ramp down.  You could run a custom fan curve to remedy this nuisance.

I disagree that this is normal, I and other users have described the issue for months now, this has been happening since spring time when it was cold out and has doesn't seem to have anything to do with card/room/case temp  temp, in fact if you read the first post of this thread the card temp is 39-41c when this happens.  I don't see any reason a card runs at full speed when the computer is barely being taxed, in a well cooled room and case. I'm disappointed in this product and EVGA just saying to run their X1 software which I found buggy and lacked documentation.

I have written them, they seemed to admit of an issue then emailed me about checking erp mode in bios which when I asked more about they went silent and stopped answering.  I'll try again to see if I get a response.

So support wrote back and to paraphrase it was either live with it or use X1 with a constant fan curve as a band aid.  They said that the card constantly "pulsing" the fans is normal operation.  The other night when using my computer to just to read this forum and answer some emails the normal "pulsing" happened a lot even though the card never went above 41 degrees.  The fans aren't just turning on, they rev up loudly for 2-10 seconds, then quiet down, then repeat again and again during regular light usage of my computer.   
 
To those people that don't have this issue or notice it, I am happy for you.  I aim for pc to be quiet during regular operation and when gaming I expect some noise as the fans turn on/speed up to cope with any extra heat but for a card to just have the fans rev up over and over constantly is not what I call a quiet card.  Again possibly I received two bad cards or something with my setup is at fault but to anyone looking for a quiet card during normal non gaming operations my personal recommendation would be to avoid this one since it seems it revving up to very loud levels is considered normal operation by EVGA.

I just wanted to take time to update this - I found out late yesterday I could still return the product to the reseller, something to do with extended returns during this health crisis.  EVGA support did email me recently saying they could investigate further why my card keeps revving up over and over but also added that could take awhile and possibly result would be the same: either try X1 constant fan on (which I did again recently with unsatisfactory results) or live with it.  I am going to return it and move on to something else once video card prices come back to earth.
 
Thankfully other than performance not being the same my 980 card works great, silent until the card is being taxed by games so I can stick with that for now. I bought the 2060 super card for better performance and belief it would be silent  until a certain temp is hit like the 980.  To me the fans constantly spinning up loudly and then stopping when just browsing the web or looking at photos and the temps are 34-41c range makes no sense.  I could live with once in a blue moon even but just the other night it sounded like I was turning on a small handheld vacuum from anywhere 2-5 seconds to 10-30 seconds before turning off, then it repeated over and over.  The whole time gpu-z never showed a temp spike above 41c.  I was hoping eVGA would either come out with firmware fix or if no firmware fix possibly work with me to find a product in their line that would work as I thought the 2060 super was supposed to in regards to fan operation and noise levels but so far nothing but an offer to look further into this and I'm closing in on 3 months with this issue.
