Hi there I am going to be upgrading to a new cpu, motherboard and Power Supply Unit. Sadly my old one has a ruptured capacitator so must be replaced. Going from an i7 7700k with an evga gtx 1080 ti SC with 16 gb 3200mhz ddr4 ram to a r7 37000x and an x570 motherboard.
I have one Samsung EVO 860 1TB SSD and a dvd drive. My monitor is an old 24in 1080p led screen and I have an rgb keyboard and mouse. I use headphones not speakers.
Would a 1000W psu be overkill or just right?

Here's EVGA's tool for calculating PSU needs > https://www.evga.com/power-meter/
Here's another good one > http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

There is nothing wrong with a little overkill as that gives you some leeway for any future additions.

Hi guys I ended up buying the EVGA G5 1000W.  Its quite loud but that was not in ECO mode so I'm now going to test it out with it on.  Sigh RIP my G2 1300W.

No problem, yeah ECO mode makes the PSU whisper quiet.  Woo I'm relieved.  It was really loud with it off.

Bad news my PSU is still extremely loud when I play games, (Doom Eternal) and remains loud for about 1-2 minutes after I play the game.  Its a buzzing/whining sound.  My G2 1300 was whisper quiet until its capacitator blew.  Is this normal or get I get screwed and bought a lemon? :(

RMA is possible if it's making an abnormal noise (buzzing/whining).

It's odd that in ECO mode you are noticing a lot of sound while gaming you might want to look up on youtube for capacitor buzz PSU and see if that is what it sounds like.
