Okay... I have a x570 MEG ACE. I have an EVGA 2060 Super folding 24/7. I have an open x8 slot.

Do I get a cheap filler card for the other slot (ie 1650 super) and step up my 2060 super (if available)?
Do I buy another 2060 super?
Do I buy a 2070 super?

Ideally I want to fold many more WU, but also have the option to turn off the main gpu slot in order to game some. I'm looking to do something soon as I don't like to look too far ahead and speculate at all on a 3xxx. I also like PPD/w over PPD/$ in most cases.

Thanks!

I'd personally just pick up another 2060 Super. It can be simpler to have matching cards.
You are already close to the sweet spot I believe.

Sounds like a plan. Cheers!

@Jayrock, sure you could get another 2060 Super... BUT wouldn't this be a great excuse justification to upgrade to a 2080 Ti???

On a more serious note: overclock.net has a great spreadsheet on estimated PPD's for each GPU which can help you make a decision.

Hahaha. Yes. Love that you crossed out excuse for justification.

I do play at 1440p so having a stronger main card might be worth it, hence the step-up suggestion. I'm just really into folding for the moment while I take online classes with games being on the side.

If you're going to grab another 2060, you should pick up the KO edition. They're monsters when it comes to folding.

@castrator86, I belive you own a 2060 KO right? How'd the PPD? I could've sworn I saw you post a picture where the 2060 KO was doing about 1.3 mil PPD?

Looks like it was from @yodap instead:

Been ramping up my ppd myself. Replaced a HD 6970 with RX 570. Now getting a GTX 970 to put along side my GTX 1080 on main computer. Will justify getting something better than a 1080 at some point but found a good deal on the 970. Will bring my in use count to 1x 1080, 1x 1660(which does pretty decent for power consumption), 2x 970, 1x 570. Plan is to hold out for Ampere at this point.

In the long run, your upgrade path will lead you to 2080Ti GPUs, simply because they're so much more efficient and the limitation on ac outlets might force you to increase efficiency.
However if you have plenty energy spare, and a 2080Ti is too high priced, I would suggest to go with a 2070 super.

Do know that 2 cards close together create a lot of heat.
If you can find a free slot away from the motherboard, and use a pcie x16 riser cable, you can eliminate some of that heat.

If you want to run 2 GPUs, make sure you have at least 700W, preferably a 1000W PSU.

I'm on a 2070S and can pull anywhere from 1.3-1.5M PPD.
