Good morning and happy new year to everyone.

I’m looking for some advices regarding my dilemma. I’ve recently bought a 2070 Super FTW3 upgrading from 1080 FTW2. So as I’m able to use the step up program I was thinking that I could upgrade to my first desire which was nonetheless the 2080 FTW3. Also I’m aware that in about 8 months Ampere cards will be available.

Is it worth using step up now and paying 200€ to upgrade to 2080S?

My goal is either 240 Hz 1080p or 1440p @ 144Hz. I haven’t decided yet on the monitor. My set up is i9-9900K and 3200CL14 RAM.

Regards

As Palpatine says - Dew It.

The 2080S FTW3 with good cooling and max overclock comes very close to a basic 2080 Ti at stock clocks.

Not sure in your areas ,,,  but currently here in US - the only closest card in Step-Up from 2070 is the 2080Ti
model . There is not showing any of the regular 2080 nor 2080 Supers

I bought the RTX 2080 XC Ultra on release day, it was a great card. I then grabbed a RTX 2080 Super FTW3 Hybrid on release day and I am very happy with it (I won the silicon lottery with 2160 Mhz max OC on the core). Sp happy I most likely will not upgrade when the next gen releases. I was able to put the 2080 XC Ultra in my sons PC so he is set for the next few years. If you can afford it then go ahead and step up, it is an awesome Gpu and plays very well 1440p 144Hz gaming. Personally I feel the 2080 Super is the much better buy (Price/perf) over the 2080ti. Best of luck and may your frame rates be high.

I would do the step-up now if you can, you know how it goes a rumor is a rumor on whats coming in the future and god knows how long it would be delayed for some silly reason, and no idea what the prices will be either, go with the here and now knowledge on what is available and work with that.
