EVGA X299 Motherboards are Optimized For The New Intel® Core™ X-Series Processors

EVGA X299 motherboards immediately set the bar for performance, cooling and stability. Since then, EVGA has improved the cooling, reinvented the modern motherboard BIOS, and continued to shock the enthusiast world with the EVGA X299 DARK. And these boards are only just getting started….

With the release of the New Intel® Core™ X-Series Processors, EVGA X299 Motherboards are ready and waiting for them. Current owners need only update the motherboard BIOS for full compatibility; new owners can boot into the motherboard BIOS and update the BIOS with their brand-new CPUs.

EVGA X299 Motherboards provide these features to support the New Intel® Core™ X-Series Processors -
  • All EVGA X299 motherboards feature support for 32GB DIMMs with the latest BIOS
  • All EVGA X299 motherboards are optimized for VRM cooling with both active and passive cooling options
  • All EVGA X299 motherboards feature a new and improved OC Robot to automatically set PerCore ratios and voltages for maximum overclocks and stability
  • All EVGA X299 motherboards feature an updated in-BIOS Stress Test that can test settings in real-time and supports AVX2 stress testing

The new image shows Killer E2500 with DARK is there any pcb revision coming

No, the logos are meant to represent all of our X299 products, not just the X299 DARK.  In this case, the Killer logo represents our X299 FTW K motherboard.

Why is it you can't get any EVGA motherboards in the UK?

Yeah i know, i have had a few people from UK and Australia buy from me on ebay to get an EVGA motherboard or other component they wanted. Seems like they should be a bit more available.

Hi! Please help

I could not find 100% precise info neither from the manual, nor from the reviews and forums, so address this question to forum specialists.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but according to the manual the following PCIE and storage configuration is possible with Cascade Lake-X Core i9-10980XE 48 PCIe Gen 3 lanes CPU:

PE1 - x16 lanes from CPU used for GPU1
PE2 - not used
PE3 - not used
PE4 - x16 lanes from CPU used for GPU2
PE5 - x4 laned from PCH used for CPIe NVMe M.2 riser card
PE6 - x4 lanes from PCH used for CPIe NVMe M.2 riser card
PM1 - not used
PM2 - x4 lanes from PCH used for M.2 NVMe PCIe drive
PU1 - x4 lanes from CPU used for Optane 905p SSD
PU2 - x4 lanes from CPU used for Optane 905p SSD

What I am also not sure because of lack of exact Intel RST specifications in manual, is storage RAID possibilities within configuration mentioned above. If X299 Dark supports Intel RST(e) on CPU and Intel RST on PCH, then following should be possible:
- "PU1 + PU2" in bootable RAID0 from CPU (Intel RSTe, not VROC)
- "PE5 M.2 device + PE6 M.2 device + PM2 M.2 device" in RAID from PCH (Intel RST).

Please let me know whether bootable PCH RAID0 with Optanes based on Intel RST or bootable CPU RAID0 with Optanes based on Intel RSTe is possible (which one of two or both?). I am not interested in VROC, so I am not considering this option.

Thank you in advance

Unfortunately, it's not going to work out the way you're hoping.

PU1 and PU2 belong to the same PCIe group from the CPU.  RAID over RSTe is not possible for these; it must be done via VROC only.

Your second option runs into a different problem.  PE6 and PM2 cannot pull from the PCH at the same time.  It's an either/or situation.  That means you would have drives split over CPU and PCH lanes, which would prevent a RAID array among those 3 options.

Thank you!

Does that mean that the following would be correct:

PE1: x16 lanes from CPU for GPU1
PE2: N/A
PE3: N/A
PE4: x16 lanes from CPU for GPU2
PE5: x4 lanes from PCH for Optane SSD in RAID0 on PCH
PE6: x4 lanes from PCH for Optane SSD in RAID0 on PCH
PM1: N/A
PM2: x4 lanes from CPU for Optane SSD in VROC
PU1: x4 lanes from CPU for Optane SSD in VROC
PU2: x4 lanes from CPU for Optane SSD in VROC

Thank you!!

Hi Lee,

Can you please check on PE5/PE6 since your colleagues from support reported that PE5 does not support PCH RST? Thanks!!!

Hi Kalverstukas,

PE5 is not on the PCH RST, so RAID would not be possible with PE6.

My X299-FTW-K, arrived 4 days ago, from RMA Land, with Version 1.08. (Note) I did Not flip the switch and test the other BIOS   I ended up getting a 9980XE for the price of a 10-980XE, so it did boot right up. I did update to 1.23. Simple Did it in windows, Instructions found in Forms, super easy. Have Noticed Windows 10 says I am Not ready for the New update, Is it Just my system, or is there something in the drivers the newest version of Windows 10-64 cannot handle, is it just me?
