Hi! Please help
I could not find 100% precise info neither from the manual, nor from the reviews and forums, so address this question to forum specialists.
Please correct me if I am wrong, but according to the manual the following PCIE and storage configuration is possible with Cascade Lake-X Core i9-10980XE 48 PCIe Gen 3 lanes CPU:
PE1 - x16 lanes from CPU used for GPU1
PE2 - not used
PE3 - not used
PE4 - x16 lanes from CPU used for GPU2
PE5 - x4 laned from PCH used for CPIe NVMe M.2 riser card
PE6 - x4 lanes from PCH used for CPIe NVMe M.2 riser card
PM1 - not used
PM2 - x4 lanes from PCH used for M.2 NVMe PCIe drive
PU1 - x4 lanes from CPU used for Optane 905p SSD
PU2 - x4 lanes from CPU used for Optane 905p SSD
What I am also not sure because of lack of exact Intel RST specifications in manual, is storage RAID possibilities within configuration mentioned above. If X299 Dark supports Intel RST(e) on CPU and Intel RST on PCH, then following should be possible:
- "PU1 + PU2" in bootable RAID0 from CPU (Intel RSTe, not VROC)
- "PE5 M.2 device + PE6 M.2 device + PM2 M.2 device" in RAID from PCH (Intel RST).
Please let me know whether bootable PCH RAID0 with Optanes based on Intel RST or bootable CPU RAID0 with Optanes based on Intel RSTe is possible (which one of two or both?). I am not interested in VROC, so I am not considering this option.
Thank you in advance
