Got my order in. Now to decide if I upgrade my solid 5.1ghz 7700k to a 9900k or wait for a while. Any input would be most welcome.
I noticed bottlenecking with the 1080 TI SC2 and the 7700k and Jumped to the 9900k.Needed more FPS for 240hz. I think the end 2018 was it for quad core intel being sufficient for gaming. If you are playing titles that were released early 2018 or before it probably doesn't matter.
Also if you want to check out team Red the Zen 2 stuff could end up being pretty EPIC... I will be all over the Ryzen 9 - 3850X when it is released.
Note that the 9900k is a definately harder to cool. I still see spikes to 85c when running intel burn test -high with my custom loop...
Last thing.. I have a hard time telling the difference in feel on the Ryzen 2700x+ RTX 2080 @ 2000mhz and the 9900k +1080TI SC2 @2050 in Apex Legends or The Division 2. Frametimes, and FPS minimums do seem to be more important than 10-20FPS highs. Frametime spikes and stutter do seem to be more prevalent with a quad core and the newest titles.
