Will the new EVGA sound card support any of the following? DTS Connect, DTS-X, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Live, Dolby Atmos?

It won't be able to output any of those other than Dolby Digital Live. DD Live is basically the equivalent of Dolby Prologic II which takes a stereo signal and upmixes to a 5.1 signal, except DD Live is built for PCs. Taking a PC audio source, converting it to DD 5.1, and outputting it via Toslink.

The other formats are for uncompressed multichannel audio applications which require either multichannel analog out (one analog out for each channel) or HDMI for digital out. Neither of which are on the sound card.

It IS possible to output those signals via the HDMI output on a GPU tho. I used to do this but the software I was using was a little sketchy, wasn't super reliable.

I'm happy to see this, However it would be nice to see 3.5mm 1/8" 7.1 surround sound. My SBZ is only 5.1
I also use a Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 for music recording. one cannot perform what the other is designed to do so I have to use both.

If this card had the 7.1 analog outputs it would be the perfect card, add in 0 latency.

I've been looking for something this in 7.1 for a while now, I think ASUS is the only one that makes an affordable card.

I really can't understand why people think onboard sound even comes close to what a PCIe card can do.
It truly is a supreme experience. I also believe it's why people think headsets suck. The USB headsets are Okay, but still can't deliver a true surround sound.
Pair a true 7.1 PCIe card with this TRUE 7.1 Headset https://www.razer.com/gam...dio/razer-tiamat-71-v2

I've been using the Sound Blaster Z for the past 6 years now. I really love this card and it's been working Flawlessly. I'm connecting via Toslink to a Yamaha receiver using the 5.1 surround sound via the Dolby Digital and DTS software built into creatives software panel.

My question is what kind of signal does the EVGA NU output via Toslink to a digital receiver? Dolby or DTS? PCM?

Same here, Been using the SBZ for several years and works great.

It doesn't have HDMI out. Quite sure HDMI is the only thing that can carry Dolby Atmos and DTS X. I've been waiting a long time for a sound card with this. I mentioned it to the guys with Creative at E3 a year or two ago, but no one is listening.  : /

This topic was brought up in the RTX20** section and I had dug up / posted this link after looking into what was what between TOSLink versus HDMI

There is some good info in the link above but I also think some of it is a bit off

TLDR: It is not a matter of bandwidth capabilities of TOSLink it is a matter of Toshiba never carrying it any farther forward in what the hardware for it can do - they let it go stagnant and have lost out to HDMI.

MSim Can we get your approval here

Will have to wait and see.

I have Creative AE-5, hopefully some does a good review comparing EVGA NU AUDIO card vs Creative AE-5 card. I would like to see more information about EVGA NU AUDIO software for the card. You need both good hardware and software.

I'll take a stab at MSRP on EVGA NU AUDIO. My guess is $199 or higher.

Same here.  I'm pretty happy with the AE-5 though I wish Creative would produce better software to take advantage of all of card's features.

Looks like a fun toy, and I wouldn't mind trying it since I enjoyed the Asus Essence STX a lot. However, the specs are missing a key detail that would interest serious audiophiles: what is the output impedance for each output? These internal DACs often suffer from a relatively high impedance as the main weakness, but hopefully the NU Audio improves on that aspect.

It would be really impressive if EVGA would provide sample impedance graphs, so we don't need to wait for 3rd party reviewers to do measurements.

Can i hook up my logitech Z533 speakers with subwoofer? I have a pair of Grado SR 80 e prestige headphones as well. I love my Grado's! Good sound.  Can i use a set of rc plugs for the subwoofer and speakers and also have  the headphones on the other jack as well? I might save up for this new sound card from EVGA. I currently have a SoundBlaster Audigy FX Sound card but it seems to tax the computer when I have the volume up on the speakers. Would the EVGA have more power for the speakers? Would it be too much power for the Logitech Z533's. Thanks.

It will work fine with that speaker setup. The sound card has Left/Right Stereo outputs (Red and white), connect that direct to your inputs on the subwoofer.

Unsure if you could use em at the same time but I'd guess yes. I would reach out to EVGA to ask if that is a hard requirement for you.

The card should have no problem driving those headphones. It has a 600ohm impedance headphone amp which will drive basically anything. This is actually where the Nu might shine.

It also doesn't supply power to your speaker setup. You plug your subwoofer directly into a wall power outlet which is what provides the power. The sound card simply sends the audio signal to it.

@gch233 as mattman657 said, your Logitech Z533 speakers are powered and only required line in analog source.

You should be able to have both audio sources out, the line out to the Logitech for game audio while you have Discord or other voice chat to your headphones.

Some spec info for the OPAmp's used in the EVGA Nu Audio

Headphone Jack - ADI OP275 - https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/op275.pdf

Line Out - ADI AD8056 - https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/data-sheets/ad8055_8056.pdf

As I noted above they can be swapped out with Burson OPAmps or some other brand. They have a direct listing for the OP275 but would need to be contacted for verification on the AD8056. They are both dual units

A few things are indeed missing information wise, other then"DSD" on the current product page what about Doby?? DTS?? PCM?

Even with an X series board, which I have, I’ve run out of lanes with my NVLink and NVME drives populated. SLI support is the best it’s been in years also. People that do not use SLI always love to spread misinformation and comment on things they have no experience with.

This audio card does not even support MQA so streaming Tidal or other lossless audio will effectively be 13 bit.

What cpu are you using on an X series board to where you ran out of lanes with SLI and nvme drives?

I am just curious as you clearly know more than everyone else on the subject. I understand only that there are 28 and 40 lane cpus for the X series boards, so you NEED 3 gpu’s And an nvme just to get to 28 lanes, which I doubt you have, since nvlink only supports two cards. Since you only have two, that would leave you with at least 8 more lanes, as far as my math can see.

Now if you have 40 lanes... heck, looking st my two titan Xp’s And my pci audio card, both of my titans STILL run at x16 with the audio card and an nvme installed, so I am curious what you are rambling about people not knowing, and would like a decent understanding of where this is going instead of lumping everyone together and being vague.

I also really want to understand why you are taking the time to bash something you clearly don’t want.
