Batches 03244181xxx.

A few worth to note things.

- Boxex are more black (later I will upload photos in high resolution)
- GDDR6 Samusng instead of GDDR6 Micron
- New bios
- The cards work more stable
- They reach lower temperatures

Received my EVGA RTX 2080 Ti FTW3 Ultra today (did not buy it on evga.com) and my card is still using GDDR6 from Micron.

Any truth to the Micron vs Samsung assertion in that link (post#2)?

I cannot say, but there is possibility that the issue was a defective run of microns own chips.

I just looked at the bios update thread in this forum. It's all Micron memory.

Hmm thats a bit scary info, seems the micron is the "cheaper/less doable" version, and afraid of the long vitality for the cards with these vs samsungs.

Gotta be a reason to why they change, scary with the samsung parts seems more stable / less hot. Its alot of money if its dies early / after warranty, cause we are early adopters.

Could also be the reason why its so hard to get cards, the orders get mowed time after time, my order went from, 13/11 - 18/12 - 15/1 2019....perhaps they are aware and stopped production with micron chips.

I fear they will jyst change the never cards to samsung ram, and rma those micron chips that dies early, even though they know the failrate is high. Sucks to pay a premium with less quality components, and perhaps components that "burns out" faster.

A thought i had regarding the dying cards, seems to come true. Will be interesting the next couple of weeks, how it will unfold.

Just remember, Micron had GDDR5 issues on the 1070 which required bios tuning, so they aren't new to being of lesser spec compared to samsung stuff.

This reminds me of the Elpidia ram that was used in the 780's until they switched over to samsung as well. Hopefully this isn't very significant this time around...

NVIDIA hasn't changed the VRAM manufacturer. They had an exklusive contract with Micron where Micron delivers the memory chips for the release cards. With additional AIB cards it was clear that we'll see cards with Samsung chips as well. We might also see some cards with SK Hynix Chips.
