Hi everyone,

I'll have our team look into this once we get back from the Memorial Day weekend.

Thanks for reporting this.  I'd advise against editing the BIOS before we've looked at it, but I'll let you all know when I have an update.

I look forward to hearing what you find out as I don't particularly want to modify my BIOS if I don't have to.

Hi everyone, we can create the BIOS, but there are some other details I need to iron out first with our laptop team.  That may take an extra day or two.  (The BIOS would likely take longer, anyway)

Hi Lee and Everyone,
I will be needing this as well since I'm going to switch out the mechanical for an SSD. Very disappointed in this situation. This is my first EVGA product that's not a power supply. This should have shipped with SATA 3 enabled for that port.
Anxiously awaiting corrected BIOS.
Thanks!

Edit: I see that there is a BIOS forthcoming. Good news. Thanks very much.

Hi everyone,

I just put up a Beta BIOS for this.  I'm calling it a "Beta" BIOS, but it's a final version.  I simply wanted to separate it from the official BIOS updates.

This will enable the option to set SATA III in the BIOS.  As I note in the release notes, although the laptop and cables are SATA III compliant, we cannot certify or officially support your devices for their rated speeds.  With that said, you'll have to test them out to verify.  I'll appreciate any feedback if you guys run into issues, however.

To get this BIOS, go here:  https://www.evga.com/support/download/

Select Other Products > Category: Laptop > Part Number: 516-34-1833 > Type: Beta BIOS and click Submit.

Follow the install instructions and (hopefully) profit.

Hi Lee,

I only see BIOS 1.06 from 4-16-2018 and prior releases. I don't see the Beta BIOS release.

Look for the Beta BIOS in the dropdown:

Lee, considering it’s a beta bios and not an official bios, does it void the warranty using this bios version? Also is warranty voided if the 1tb hdd is swapped out?

The FTC recently ruled it is illegal to void a warranty like that. With that said, save your original hard drive in case you need warranty service, so you can reinstall it if anything bad happens with the laptop.
