No, hitting ctrl+l again afterwards will make the card idle on the desktop, but when you launch an application the curve should still take effect without having to use ctrl+l to lock the clocks.

It is working great now, I believe I was a bit confused first about the ctrl+l procedures in your guide.

Combining your guide with a more basic thread I found on overclock.net was perfect, now I finally get it, better late than never. ;-)

I don't know if anyone mention to save your max voltage settings. Now when you bench your machine just hit the saved voltage settings and adjust you clock and memory speeds for max runs.
Nice tutorial Sajin!

Sajin, have you got any ideas why my FTW3 is stuck at 1.062v and won't go to the full 1.093v? It's just been put under water and its max temp is 43c, while power consumption barely goes above 95% of the TDP (127% allocated).

I've tried using the curve method, but it still caps at 1.062v.

Perhaps there's a BIOS that I can get it up to the full 1.093v...?

Edit: figured it out, but it did not improve the OC ability at all. Stuck at 2112 or so... either way, I'm very glad with the temperature drops and extra 60 MHz I got out of the core as a result of the drop.

Updated op with additional info on how to get the core voltage slider working in afterburner if you're having trouble getting it work.

Make a new thread in this forum section and post your full system specs and tell us what is reported for performance cap, use GPU-Z and look at the sensors tab as that will be the easiest way to look at speed, temps and perfcap reason
