I noticed 2.04 was removed from the download list. I've been running it since 1/14/18 and have not noticed any issues with it.
Is 2.04 safe. or should I Roll Back

Updated the classy bios today from a usb drive in the bios without issue.  Can't tell any difference in my work or games.  Easy to recreate my modest overclock.  Samsung Magician benchmark shows a huge (like 50%) hit in sequential and random write speeds with my 950pro 1TB sata drive.  Read speeds unchanged.  This is a totally non-scientific and uncontrolled test... more of a before and after thing.

Same thing here, My Samsung 850 Pro took a huge reduction in IOPS. From over 100,000 to 30,000
Was this a cause from BIOS update 2.04

EDIT: Rolled back to 2.03 on Secondary BIOS and the SSD performs as it should.
IOPS - 100,585 | 60,302 , However the IOPS writes are a little slow. I was getting over 80,000 on 2.02
I may rollback to 2.02 just to see if it changes.

More news from intel: https://newsroom.intel.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/11/2018/03/microcode-update-guidance.pdf

I think that has all of our CPUs covered?

Download page on intel's website has been updated now too (actually, a while ago, I don't check it daily any more heh) https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/27591/Linux-Processor-Microcode-Data-File?v=t

No news from Microsoft yet, so perhaps those mcu's haven't been 'verified' yet? Who knows.......  https://support.microsoft...ntel-microcode-updates

Are you using the original BIOS revision that had the "Spectre fix" in it?  If so, I know the feeling.  My system seemed noticeably sluggish using that BIOS.  I reverted back to the previous one.

I suspect that even when a new BIOS revision is released for Spectre, it's not going to be any better considering what Spectre is and how it needs to be patched to secure it.

no i never bothered rolling back to 2.03 - it hasnt really been unstable, just "feels" different - maybe just placebo effect, but if there is a better firmware candidate for the board, i'd like to see that.

Got it.  Although I wasn't referring to it being unstable, just sluggish.  If you ran SSD benchmarks before and after the Spectre fix BIOS, you'd see where some of that sluggishness is coming from.  Quite a drop in performance in certain area's.

So, is the updated updated microcode coming anytime soon? It's April already, and months have passed since the flawed code was pulled.

Intel did release microcode recently, but it looks like we're still waiting on EVGA to make a BIOS with it. Since I can't post links, Google "intel microcode guidance" for the PDF with the chips they've released it for so far, and their future plans.
