Can someone explain the "initial" problems with the 1080ti that I have seen mentioned in this thread? I know I could Google it and find out but since I'm here.....
I am running a EVGA FE edition card with an EK Water Block and back plate installed. I have not had any issues but wanted to know what I should look out for.

Thanks!

Essentially when the first SC cards came out EVGA forgot to put thermal pads on some components and in some cases they went "BANG!".

EVGA sorted this problem and was great in reacting to the problem and it is sorted.

It was because of the exemplary way that EVGA dealt with the problem that decided me to buy an EVGA 1080 Ti SC2.

BTW this will be the very first Nvidia card I have ever owned when I get it into my by now terribly impatient greedy grubby little hands tomorrow (that's when it will be delivered).

Update to my build.

Just set both cards (ftw3) under water with the ek blocks. The temps won't go above 50c and the cards runs stable all the time with 2050mhz ( +53 gpu offset) . Haven't tested more yet.

So i can recommend using this blocks :)

The problem with regard to both SLI and Crossfire is that in gaming the cards configured this way will run slower than one card alone under DirectX 12. So if you want to use SLI or Crossfire you have to use either DirectX 11 or Vulkan.

I am now on the less than 24 hour countdown to being able to put my brand spanking new EVGA 1080 Ti SC2 into my system.

I might be a bit exuberant tomorrow and tell everyone that they cannot possibly have as good a system as I have - but I promise I will calm down to something resembling a rational being by sometime next week - or next month

Just got the 1080 TI sc2 HC.  30 mins ago. LOL  I will be installing it this weekend along with some new reservoirs, new tubes and resoder and position the leds throughout the case. The 980 TI HC was a camp and will be going in my other rig for some dual vr fun at home.
