I completed the ICX upgrade process on 2/27, before the price drop and before the official Ti announcement. At that time, the FTW2 was listed at $670 (which is what I originally paid for it from Amazon). 
 
Now that the announcement has gone through though, the price has dropped to $570.

To me, this line seems fairly vague. Which price is the effective one? 
 
1. The original card's invoice price (don't think so but putting this up)
2. The ICX card's MSRP at the time the upgrade was started
3. The ICX card's MSRP at the time the upgrade was completed (as in old card sent in and processed with new one sent out, since that's when it was)
4. The ICX card's MSRP at the time the card is entered into the queue to be Step Up'd
5. The ICX card's MSRP at the time the Step Up is ready and the ICX card is to be sent in.
 
In total, I've spent $820 to get my hands on a FTW2. $670 for the FTW, $100 for the upgrade, and $50 to ship it in. Telling me that it's only going to be worth $570 (or less?!) at Step Up time would be a really disappointing move. 
 
TL;DR What is my $670 card that replaced my other $670 card (at the expense of an additional $100) that now costs $570 going to be worth at Step Up time?

They havent announced a step up as of yet. They will probably provide details if they announce the 1080ti to be on the step up list and program.

i would also like to know the answer to this. 
 
im still pending approval for my ICX upgrade but the only reason im doing the upgrade is to get the step up so i can get the 1080 ti. if they are going to value the icx card that i get @ $550. im not going to go through with the icx upgrade. not worth paying 100 bucks to have to pay another $150 just to get a reference Ti when i paid $650 for my current card in december

There is 16 different ICX cards to choose a price from. You would need to be a lot more specific which card you are referring to.

So for anyone looking at this thread it seems that EVGA will be using the ORIGINAL prices!

I can confirm that the price used for the Step-up value on the ICX upgrade cards is the M.S.R.P. price originally listed on EVGA.com and not the newly updated price.  We are working to have the invoice show this pricing on the EVGA account and I expect this to be completed sometime next week.

I know that they will be doing that (most likely - it is a business after all), but IMO doing the upgrade is a "purchase."  And step up goes off of MSRP at time of purchase.  So yes, they will always be going off of MSRP on EVGAs site, but is that at the time of purchase, like every else who buys a card and does step up, or at the time of step up?
 
Again, if they drop the price, and it's a $200 step up, so be it - that's better than $700 for a new GPU.  And I doubt I'll get $500+ for my SC2 now that the Ti was announced - but I would very much like the step up to be based off of MSRP now, since that's when I "purchased" my GPU

That's excellent news! I was looking to step up when they add the 1080ti to the list(fingers crossed). I've already completed the icx step-up. Now I have 70+ days to see if they'll add the ti to the list.

I'm just curious if we're going to have to go through with the whole ICX upgrade first, and then once we get our ICX card, then ship it right back out to step up to a 1080 Ti. That would seem a bit silly but I haven't heard anything suggesting otherwise yet. Hopefully don't have to jump through hoops like that.

its silly and i agree. wish i could just skip the step of them sending out the icx card but in reality. by the time you get your icx card upgrade. once you apply for step up. you're going to be so far back in queue by now that you'll be waiting at least a few weeks to a month till you'll need to send the icx card in. 

we'll see in a few weeks once the icx cards come out. we may see a stock ref 1080 Ti with just the ICX cooler. if so it may hit the step up and that will be a whole different queue next to the founders edition queue. 

i just came to accept it being that im still waiting to get approved for my icx upgrade.
