When you say the new fan "lasts longer", are you referring to other brand PSU's, or compared to the double ball bearing in the G2 ?
Definitely not than the double ball bearing of the G2 (or the one the Seasonic X series used) - I anticipate EVGA will be seeing a TON of in-warentee replacements cause by fan failures on their G3 series (as will Seasonic on the Prime) due to them once again putting "quiet" ahead of "reliable and long lasting" in their design choices.
Sleeve bearing fan designs, no matter HOW FANCY of a name gets put on them, DO NOT LAST.
As soon as the lubricant leaks out (and it WILL leak out, seals WEAR), kiss the fan very quickly goodbye - and probably the PS with it if you push the load on your PS at all.
I flat out will not consider the G3 line or the Prime line for purchace because of this VERY BAD DESIGN DECISION - which is irritating as the Seasonic X series and the EVGA G2 series have been my "go-to" power supply choices for a long time now.
Didn't they learn ANYTHING from the "set the fan profile WAY too low on some 1070 models" to make them quiet DISASTER?
