Thanks for the update and I would think people would of changed the fan curves when they got their gpu.

Well, I haven't gotten all the parts of my build yet so my card in still NIB...however, I'm not sure how other companies do this sort of thing but I'm rather impressed by EVGA's response.  I've ordered a thermal pad kit and will install that before first boot of the system.

Can someone please confirm the thickness of the thermal pads so we can use our own. It's easy to work out the dimensions but are the pads 1, 1.5, 2mm?

Why wasn't there thermal paste or pads in the first place?

Probably a simple oversight. The ACX cooler worked fine on previous gens so I gather they assumed it would work fine on this one. It does, but the thermal pads just offer improvement.

If you compare review temps with other brands unfortunately EVGA seems to run on the hotter side this time round.

I'm slightly confused tho, I just looked at the instructions again and we are meant to apply the pad ontop of the chokes??? Is this correct? Chokes don't normally get hot and require active cooling? Is the pad meant to go behind the chokes towards the back of the card where the mosfest sits as this is where most heat would be generated. Seems a tad odd to be using the chokes to carry heat from the VRM section considering they also don't make any contact with the midplate itself.

Did I read that right?   If we update VBIOS on card we don't need thermal pads or do we need both new vbios update and pads?

Only update on BIOS is fan profile.

So this VBIOS will not include the AMD PCIe ID recognition fix ? Will there be another VBIOS with both fixes?

Well I am totally confused. Has anyone gotten pads yet (mine have been shipped but I havent received them yet), and if so are the results of an OC better? Also, is there a new BIOS update for the GTX 1080 FTW cards?

Will the cross ship RMA cards also have the thermal pads installed?

Pretty sure they would.

I would guess if i installed an ek water block on my EVGA I won't need this right? The ek already provides those thermal pads upon install. Well, only the front ones, should I still install the backplate wide one too?

Correct. Since the pads are optional, I'd say you don't need the backplate pad.

I haven't received a shipping date for my replacement GPU, does that mean the incoming replacement card will already have the VBIOS update applied? Hence after 11/1/2016. How will I know the GPU already have the applied VBIOS?

Going of what has been stated in the main post of this thread I'd say yes. To check if your card already has the vbios applied simply load furmark and use msi afterburner hardware monitor to check the gpu fan tachometer rpm reading after 15 mins of run time, the tachometer rpm reading should be around 2200rpm.

Great, thanks. I still ordered them in case I ever sell the card and put it back to stock so I don't pass the problem to another owner. So when is the BIOS being released?
