Hi people, i have a 1080 ACX3.0 SC from EVGA. Did the bios update and my card now stays at 42ºC idle and goes 68ºC when playing BF1 with everything in ultra for at least 4 hours (I live in Salvador/BA/Brazil witch normal temp goes between 27-23ºC thru the year). I understand that this temp is not the same as the mosfet´s ones but I think it´s inside normal parameters. Anyway, i´m going to do the thermal pad process too and already applied to that. So my question is: i have here a Prolimatech Pk3 Thermal Professional paste which i used for my processor. I think it´s a very good paste. Can i use to the GPU too when my thermal pads arrives? What do you think?

AND, aside the fact that the ACX 3.0 architecture used in this boards IS flawled endeed, i prefer to continue thinking that EVGA stands for it´s products and is doing all possible to correct this. All my PC life i used EVGA cards and will continue to do so. This "hype" about burning VGA´s, is only this: a hype. Yes, there are real cases, but not as many the "internet" techs wants you to believe. My card is 2 months old, and i´m pretty sure in the end, it will survive :)

Best of luck to all.

Any thermal paste that is non-conductive, non-capacitive will work. i.e, no liquid metal/Artic Silver 5, etc.

Do we have an estimate on the mosfet-to-baseplate height? If we are to get some thermalpads for that place as well. Also, the height from Vram to baseplate is 2.0mm am I right?

I thought and heard they used 1mm pads between the vram and mid plate and 1mm from the mosfets to mid plate. Hope that's the case because I just ordered some 1.5mm thermal pads to replace both.

The completely flat Midplate/baseplate is at the same height as the inductors which are taller than the mosfets, so I do not think that 1mm would be enough.

EVGA uses 1 mm pads. Well enough.

I just bought an evga 1080 FTW from amazon, I've had it for about 10 days and its still in the box. Should I return this card and look for something else? I've read people say its only futuremark with altered drivers but if that was the case evga would not offer hardware and software mods (imo). If this is the Note 7 of graphics cards I'm not sure I want to plug this in and use it. I am comfortable doing the mods and then some but this is not something I really planned for when making my purchase choice.

Any advice is appreciated.

Honestly, for the amount of money you paid for this card you should expect it to work flawlessly and never have to worry about a safety issue. I would return it if I were you and go with another product until EVGA can figure this out. I have seen pictures of cards EVGA "fixed" where the thermal pads aren't coming in complete contact with the cooler and leaving a gap. This is all very troubling.

Please post these pictures, so we know your statement is true. There is no gap, what so ever. Only in your dreams.

How are you guys keeping track of your orders ?
I requested the pads and received an email, stating that my request has been recorded, but that's as far as it goes ?

Someone can explain me the process for request an RMA? I have a link "submit a new RMA" but clicking it I return to page product. Thanks

In order to start an RMA it is required you enter a ticket number given from tech support AFTER troubleshooting. Please contact tech support if you have not done so: 888-881-EVGA (3842) or via email

Not correct in this case. You dont need to go through Tech support at all.

Open a ticket using RMA.
This situation is special, if you make an RMA asking for replacement or help they get back to you fast. I made a Advance RMA and got the ticket approved a few hours later, pretty impressive how fast they handled it.

No, these are linked to the Equivalent Device-Hours, which varies with the junction temperatures, the relevant part in our case is the FIT.
These datas come from the manufacturer onsemiDotCom, availaible in the Reliability data of the said components.

Sorry GFAFS, but when it comes to statistics you are wrong.  The FIT number should be built from the MTBF data, and the MTBF data does not match the FIT data.  The only conclusion I can draw from your data is that it is invalid and should be ignored.  I'm not trying to start an argument, but I really don't like it when people put what they represent as facts on the internet to support their own biased opinion.  Your data is suspect at best, and just flat wrong at worst.  I see no reason to engage with you further on this matter.

EVGA is an excellent company with perhaps the best customer support in the industry.  If you don't believe that buy one from somebody else, then when you have problems try to get hold of them, odds are you cant.  I know because I've done it with both Gigabyte and ASUS.

Nah not looking for those dimensions. Need someone to confirm the thickness of the ones that actually go between the VRAM and the mid plate and the mosfets and mid plate. The ones already on the card. Trying to solve the problem of the pads not making contact with the vram as the EVGA pads might take some time to arrive in the mail.

Maybe measure them yourself. You open the card. Lend a micrometer from a friend. o_O
Then order and put on next day.

I'm not sure that the pads have started shipping yet. They did at one point say it would be "sometime" this week.
Mine (like I expect most peoples) are still sitting at "Awaiting Shipment".
I got the same initial Email as you, I suspect you will receive another when they actually get shipped.
Just a matter of sitting tight and waiting I suppose.
