EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 BIOS Update  - 86.04.50.00.70/86.04.50.01.70 (10/17/2016)

Updates:
  • Improved memory overclocking experience for some users

Q. Do I need to reapply this update every time I update a driver or reinstall the O.S.?
A. This update is attached to the card, no matter where it goes. If you update the driver, the EVGA BIOS update is still applied.

Q. How can I tell what version I firmware I currently have?
A. There are multiple ways to do this, one way is to right click on desktop and go to NVIDIA control panel. Click on Help, then System Information. Scroll to the bottom of the Details window and it will show your "Video BIOS version".

Q. I just bought my card, will it have this updated firmware?
A. Chances are yes, as new firmware is released, new products shipping from EVGA will also have this firmware version applied.

Hi there, I'm trying to update the secondary bios on my 1070 FTW, however its stuck for 10mins after pressing Y. I've already done it no problem with the primary. Should I wait or it got stuck and its safe to turn off my PC?

Tonight I tried to flash the BIOS (6173.zip) again but it was as well without success.
My card is a EVGA GTX 1070 SC and everything looks like it probably should.
The screen flickers and then stops again but if there should be a sucess message I don't get it.

This is what GPU-Z looks like before and after the attempt:

Additional information about my system: http:// valid.x86.fr / kx2pkg
If you need any further detail for debugging, please let me know.

This looks like you may be on an AMD platform, if so please contact us directly first 888-880-3842, you will need different update first.

Why should we contact to EVGA? You said: "we will need different update first", so just publish it here or on other post, explain to us (AMD users), what shall we do and vouala everything is OK. Is that so difficult?

Exactly, I came here for an answer to this problem and now I guess I'll just call the support line too.....

Hey everyone!

Need some help with that stuff. It's my first highend gaming PC. And i barely know anything about Hardware stuff. Only got an hint from a pal that EVGA Cards having serious troubles and i have to do something.

That's the card i did buy: EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 FTW GAMING ACX 3.0

My questions are:

1. How can i find out if i have Micron or Samsung Ram?
2. Which one of those needs the BIOS Update?
3. There are two downloadlinks for my card. Bios 1 and Bios 2. Do i need to install both?
4. Is this enough or do i need that ThermalPad Upgrade?

Any help would ne really appreciated, because i don't want to break down something.

1. Download GPU-Z.
2. Micron.
3. Yes/No. Yes, if you ever plan to use the secondary. No, if you only plan to use the master.
4. Thermal pads are optional. www.evga.com/thermalmod

Thank you very much for the quick response!

I've downloaded GPU-Z like mentioned. It's a card with Micron Ram.

So please allow me another question: Whats the difference between BIOS 1 and BIOS 2? What could be a reason to switch it?

No problem. BIOS 1 = fans don't spin until 60c is achieved. BIOS 2 = fans spin all the time under 60c, more aggressive fan curve, higher power target.

Thank you again!

So i choose BIOS 2 if i plan to overclock my card?

(Sry if this is a stupid question, but i'm really new to that kind of business)
