My stepup from the now "old" SSCs to the now "old" FTWs has been processed and paid for, but I have not sent the cards in yet.  I wonder if I should pump the brakes and see if the offer the FTW+ cards in the stepup, or try to make the move for the "new" SSC cards.  Do you think the new SSC is better than the old FTW?

...and will the "new" SSC or FTW light up my effing EVGA Pro SLI bridge?!?!

+1

Definitely would be nice to know. But my right hand is ready for another facepalm if its something that they STILL didn't address.

I pulled the trigger on the new GTX970 SSC yesterday.  As long as no issues arise like coil whine, all should be fine and I won't regret my purchase.  Why cry about a small clock increase when you can simply overclock yourself?

Are you saying the regular 970 FTW will overclock with the FTW+ no problem? Because I can assure you the FTW+ will clock way higher, even the SSC will over the FTW. They can draw a lot more power with a 6+8 pin setup. Also which is why they should offer a step up, because the SSC outdoing the FTW which is their top model is not what should be happening.

Just received the new SSC last Sunday. Despite this card's coil whine during moments of 1000+ fps (fixed with the limiter on Precision) and low ASIC of 64% (not like that matters though) I was able to clock this to 1500+ core easy enough and everything feels solid for the time being. If the changes they made to the new SSC interests you and you don't want to wait for the FTW+ considering both cards are suppose to be physically identical except for a back plate, then go for the new SSC. Otherwise I doubt many users here are complaining about the "old" FTW cards.
Can't comment on the SLI bridge though.

Are you saying that you're complaining about having a FTW and not a FTW+?  If you're really that upset about your 970FTW not being a FTW+, then just sell it at a loss and buy a new one when they are released.  Just keep in mind, its the same GPU with small board changes.  Ya, the new SSC and FTW+ will probably have better features, but thats the speed of tech.  Heck, this new SSC and the FTW+ could be upgraded in a few months also and then I'm SOL.  Just be happy that your GTX970 is as bad ass as it is and get fraggin.

I have a pair of GTX 970 SSC's as well. I was just about to pull the trigger on some FTW's until I noticed it would save me 60 dollars and i'd get a little bit slower of a card, but have more overclocking potential. I do feel bad for the few that got the short end of the stick... If I were still within my 30 day period of buying them, I'd probably take the restocking fee... Sometimes companies won't charge the fee as long as you buy something else from them.

you don't seem to be really up to date maverick.
- 2 more phases on the board
- plate cooling the pcb in front
- backplate included on the back
- 3 DP outputs (keep in mind all new 144Hz  G-sync monitors use only DP)
- "very aggressive pricing" according to Jacob

all that on the list you call "small board changes"? think twice!

the new FTW+ buyers will get what we FTW buyers paid for but never got.

I'm not complaining whatsoever, all I did was state facts. I've already said I wouldn't be too disappointed but they should offer it. However other companies have not had to re-offer their GPUs because they came with the bells and whistles on day one, just to put into consideration.

I know what the new specs are and ya, to some that's a big improvement.  To me, someone who does no voltage OC, it doesn't make or break the card.  The biggest thing to me would be the backplate as I like the looks of it and it helps the PCB from sagging.  But, this iteration and change to cards isn't anything new though.  I've been on these forums a long time and it seems to happen every other generation.  A card gets a "+" or "Ti" or "SSC"... then owners of the older one get upset that they didn't get the new stuff.  Prices usually fall overtime also, so nothing new here imo   I just hope the new SSC will play BF4 at 2560x1440 better than my 680 2gb did.
