I also would like to know.

It's sad that you are buying a powerful model and they release better/improved model after two months.

780ti Classified. 780ti Classified K|ngp|n. Your point being?

You can't step up to a Classified card. You can't step up from a Classified to a better Classified (K|ngp|n in this case).

For everyone:
The holidays are still going on a Manning is minimal. They may offer a step up from a FTW to the FTW+, but keep in mind.. How many other companies allowed to you to return your used equipment for the price you paid toward newer equipment? This is a nice thing for EVGA to do, and by no means are they required. Be happy EVGA allows any type of step up, but don't get upset if they don't allow it. If you had bought an ASUS, MSI, GIGABYTE, GALAX, XFX, bobs best, or any other brand, you would be trying to sell instead of ever considering a step up.

I agree, but at the same time they released the FTW that can't even reach it's max boost clock in 90% of games due to being limited by power draw. I'd understand if it were a GTX 960, but it's supposed to be one of their higher tier GPUs. It has the same power phases and PCI power connectors as their standard $330 GTX 970, it just has a better cooler. It's still a good GPU, but when other companies offered all of the extra bells and whistles for cheaper it hurts the argument. I feel like they should offer a step up for the FTW+ for a limited time and only if you have a FTW.

I haven't noticed my FTW not being able to maintain the stock boost clock. Just out of curiosity, what games has yours been doing this in?

Wow, I just stepped up my 970 SSC to a 970 FTW (I had 0 days left, couldn't wait any longer), and now I see this FTW+...

Really, EVGA hasn't even put my FTW in the mail yet due to Holidays, and it's already outdated by the FTW+? Missed it by a week? Thanks EVGA.

Are you saying they did something wrong? Be glad you got a nearly free upgrade compared to taking a huge hit selling a used card to buy a brand new card.

This is the game of electronics. You buy the best, so they release better. May as well get used to it, because it will continue to happen.

Hi,

The program EVGA Step-Up say:
  • Graphics Cards Examples:
    • GTX 460 → GTX 580: YES (Upgraded GPU)
    • GTX 460 768MB → GTX 460 1GB: NO (Same GPU)
    • GTX 570 → GTX 480: NO (Must be GPU upgrade)

If you purchased your GTX 970 FTW card does not have possibility of changing to a GTX 970 FTW+ since both are the same GPU.

We understand....This is a different situation. New customers will receive a new and improved version. I feel strange, because this version (backplate + improved cooling) should immediately leave factory.

I'm sorry but buying the MSI or ASUS I am sure that there will be a situation like here. One thing bothers me - if I'll want to buy a second GTX 970. My old FTW will fit with the new version for SLI? This is the second fact.

The only way for sure is to check the step-up for yourself. EVGA has made exceptions in the past and may do so again with this revision of GTX 970's. As a matter of fact, I was able to step-up to the new SSC from the old one, right now I'm pending.
