I'm no expert on the subject of cables but if I recall correctly there are different "versions" of HDMI cables, and I believe HDMI 1.4 cables are capable of transmitting greater Hz. Don't quote me on that though, might be worth a bit of research.

Well, I'll find out tomorrow or Wednesday what kind of HDMI cable I have then. ASUS was kind enough to include a VGA cable but I don't think that's going to cut it. Besides, I have tons of VGA cables already. Why would you include a VGA cable with a 144 Hz monitor? And I thought I was the moron!
Looks like I need a cable:

lol, yeah that is completely stupid.
So you don't have a DVI cable lying around?

I have a few but since they were included with different monitors they are probably single link and about as useful as a VGA cable. Ha! Time to go rummaging through my junk pile!

Am I missing something here, but wouldn't a DVI to DVI cable work for 85-144Hz?

I'll let you know. I just ordered a Dual link DVI cable. If necessary I'll just have to order another different cable. I knew I would be kicking myself for buying this monitor!

DVI is only 60 hertz. The only thing that runs 120 - 144 is dual dvi.

I don't know what this chart is trying to tell me. For 120 Hz use a DVI-D or DP cable? Or do I need a DVI-D to DP cable?

I'm about to pull the trigger on this monitor myself and need to know as well.
I have a buddy who bought it a few weeks ago, I'm going to ask him.

A normal DVI cable is only 60 hertz. The only cable that can run 120 - 144 as ive said is Dual dvi to Dual dvi.
