I have Borderlands2 capped at 120 FPS now since it runs wild without it. MW3 and all of my other games exceed 200 FPS almost all of the time. So, it looks like I'm good to go for now.

Yeah, you're all set. Like I said, your setup will achieve the 144 fps in most games. Crysis 3 is a combination of extreme graphics and terrible optimization, and Metro 2033 is notoriously badly optimized, so even a GTX Titan SLI setup doesn't provide a ridiculous amount of FPS in those games, but in 95% of games you'll hit well over 100 fps.

yea going from 60hz up to 120hz on my setup was perhaps one of the best things i ever did to improve my gaming experience

congrats on the purchase :)

I have Metro 2033 but never really liked the game anyway so I uninstalled it before I got my second 680. I used to get a lot of tearing and drops in FPS too. I even deleted my benchmark results for it. The only reason I bought it was because Motherboards.org showed it on sale for $7.99 at Amazon.

Yeah Metro is a decent enough game but it uses up far more hardware power than it should. It also runs terribly on Nvidia cards, AMD's Radeons get much better performance in Metro. It's one of the only games where they really spank the GTX series.

I've heard a lot of good things from people that have upgraded to 120 Hz but I had to ask anyway. What can I say but I am getting old and money burns a hole in my pocket for some reason. Tomorrow I will kick myself silly but for now I can't wait to see it! It is going to be nice to have a screen without scratches.

I game on a Benq XL2420T 120hertz and its brilliant, the difference between 60 and 120 is huge. So if your going from 60 to 144 it will be huge too.

Unless I can find a cable around here it looks like I might wait until I can afford one to see any 144 Hz picture. I only have HDMI right now and the ASUS manual says HDMI only supports 60 Hz. I'll have to wait until next month for a $30 Display Port cable or get one of these at Radio Shack:

Is this the right cable to give me 120-144 Hz?

EDIT: Your monitor should come with the proper cable for 144hz... I remember my did but I bought a better one in monoprice.com for like four dollars

Are you coming from 60 hz? If so and your comp can put out high frames then yes the difference is night and day. I recently went from 3 60hz monitors to 3 of those Asus' and it's pretty mind blowing how much better they are. I haven't even messed with Lightboost yet.
