i7-8700K, Oh how my i7-980X served me so well. Almost feel guilty replacing it.
I hear ya, man. I'm still rockin' my i7-920 on X58 chipset. The 920 is OC'd to 3.8ghz, and has been running at that speed since Jan. 2010. I've upgraded to an SSD boot drive, as well as a EVGA GTX 980 gpu, but the motherboard, cpu, and RAM are still from the original 2010 build. It's still fast enough to play today's triple A titles, but needless to say it'll finally be time to upgrade when 4k games are the standard.
But back on topic, I'm building my son his first gaming rig, so I bought the EVGA cpu cooler/GTX 1080 combination kit today. Was so happy to find a way to get a 1080 at MSRP, and we need a cpu cooler for his build anyway. Worked out perfectly.
