A PSU is most efficient at 50% load, even then some of its output will be lost to heat.  80+ Gold means the PSU is rated for 80%+ efficiency, and Gold should be around 87% efficient at least, so that would mean a 750W Gold PSU can support up to ~652W of actual consumption.  In a stock system - no overclocking, messing with power limits - the 750W recommendation will work.  Just realize you don't have a lot of headroom if any.

I'd personally recommend looking for at least a 1000W PSU if building a new system with high end GPUs and CPUs in mind today...  but keeping in mind the 50% is the sweet spot, 1200-1300W PSUs might be closer to the mark for ultimate efficiency.  Pick a single rail PSU over multi rail.

Thanks,
I got 604w (9700kf)..why is the x1.5 for?its not supposed to be accurate?

Is turning of the card RGB should help a little?(i dont care about that...)

Sorry, I'm not sure why you multiply by 1.5. I saw that mentioned in a couple of guides and took it for granted. After reading some of the other comments in this thread it looks like it isn't as simple as I mentioned! 😁

This is partially truth. The power efficiency is output_power/input_power, but the output power is actually 750W DC, so when the power efficiency is lets say 80% on a PSU that means the output power is 750 W DC and the input power is 937,5 W AC

For example my PSU at 100% load delivers 749,38 W DC and draws from the wall 844.02 W AC. which means a power efficiency of 88.79% which is aprox 89% power efficiency which is the rated efficiency for a platinum rated PSU

Thanks for the explanation!

So, if things wont work well with my 750w..
Is the Corsair gold rm1000x s ok?or should i go for antec signature platinum 1000w ?(around 30 bucks diff)

Not enough power for 3080ti

I recommend a power supply of 1000w or more. I think that it works stably even at 850W depending on the CPU.

750w is more than enough for normal use, unless you OC the hell out of your cpu. Most people overestimate the wattage on a PSU. There were people running the kingpin 3090 on 700w just fine. Your overclocking headroom is lower, but in normal gaming use you will be more than fine with 750w. Just make sure you have at least a gold rated.

So how does it get with the review saying it takes over 450w while gaming?
It sounds like this model is very very power hungry compared to other models..even compared to some 3090 models..

I am using a corsair RM750 on my 3080ti and played the entirety of Control with 420w average draw while gaming and 459w peak from my card, no issues and no crashes.  I am running a Ryzen though and they don't draw much power, so YMMV depending on CPU / overclocking.
