I can just spend the money on a floor AC unit for it.

Don't forget PV and batteries to offset energy costs.

The Memory loto seems to be far and few between , Never got a KPE over 1300 without artifacting with the 2 samples I had , the Ti is closer to the edge and my 3090Ti's limit is +850.

I haven't tried to OC the memory since I fixed the pcie issues I was having. With the pcie issues anything over +120 on the core or +750 on the mem hard reset so I'm hoping maybe this will allow me to push it farther with better signal integrity.

its possible they want to bundle the PSU with the kingpin because of all of the 3090 KPE failures and this one has been specifically tested

What 3090 KPE failures? I thought all the EVGA 3090 failures were with the FTW3-based cards?

My first 3090 KPE died within 2 days, no significant overclocking, just running the card.  Earlier this year.

Sorry to hear.
May I ask what was the reason it died? Did EVGA provide a reason or do you have an idea as to why?
I thought Kingpins weren't susceptible to the transient power spike issues encountered on other 3090s, or are they?

I never had a new world problem with my kingpins.  however...

I had not one, not two, but three kingpins die on me.  Two were power failures and one was a hybrid pump failure, all on stock bios.  The two power failures failed at boot with a strong burnt odor and a OLED "low voltage" warning.  there are many people that had the same thing happen but there is a lot of reluctance to talk about because of concerns on RMA denial, competency in the process to convert to water cooling, wishy washy product availability etc.   I even have videos of it happening that I can dig up and thats just with my rigs

That sucks.
Were they dead on arrival or did they die after many weeks/months of use?
I wonder whether these power failures are design problems with the card or simply a manufacturing issue with the way they were assembled and put together.

exactly . I bet 99% of RMA KPE was poor overclocking , lol

Nope. I had multiple 3090 KP RMAs and almost all of them were for hardware failures.  One was PX1 for bricking the card with a firmware update.  One of the cards was basically DOA with a dead cooling fan and a water pump that died within a couple hours of use.  One was for a leaking waterblocks that wasn't assembled correctly at the factory and couldn't be fixed because the screws were over torqued at the factory and the threads were damaged.  I think I also had another RMA for another hardware failure.  None of the failures were related to overclocking.  I actually know quite a few KP 3090 owners and have found only one who damaged the card due to overclocking and that one person going for a world record.  I'm sure Vince damaged a few, but his aren't normal RMAs I assume.

That sucks.
Sounds like a lot of DOAs and a lot of manufacturing/assembly issues that could've been avoided with some kind of basic quality control.
Did your firmware issue and other hardware failure (besides the pump/block issues you mentioned) happen immediately or did they take many weeks/months of use until they failed?

all of mine that died  went quickly, within 1-2 weeks.  1st was a pump failure at the 2 week mark, the card never actually died - just became inoperable.  The 2nd and 3rd died and died very quickly - just a few days.  in fact, the 3rd died before the 2nd advance RMA even got back to EVGA.  both 2 and 3 had a strong, temporary burnt odor coming from the back the card, no GPU output, machine otherwise boots fine, OLED reports low voltage warning. the 4th has been going strong and was converted to HC.  i suspect it was an assembly or solder issue but I didn't get specific feedback on root cause.  I have the 10 year warranty so when it finally dies, they'll send me a RTX 8010 in the year 2031 :P

also, I wouldn't hesitate to get another kingpin and block for a second, even at the higher MSRP.  unfortunately, my Q3 pipeline completely collapsed in the past few weeks and I have to put vanity purchases aside for now.  stay safe out there.

Jacob did reiterate on twitter that is was a limited run. If someone passed thinking it was going to be subject to the same market conditions as mass produced 3090ti's and they could get one much cheaper they now get to kick themselves in the keister and wait for eBay/StockX to kick in.

I made that mistake before with the KPE 1080ti and ended up having to tuck tail and get one off of eBay.
