That's not very good contact. A lot of paste everywhere but the center. Probably the problem. I think that EK FTW3 block just performs poorly. More than other ek blocks.

Works fine for me as every other EK Block.....looks like the OP had an entire tube of thermal paste on there...wow!! I still dont understand what he means by a thermal pad falling off....hes had it off n on a few times and likely re-using the same thermal pads and plastic washers (not a good idea)........

If his peak temp is 55c thats not bad considering he only has a single 360 rad in that loop to cool it....but also look back and see he mentions only running fans on that single rad at 900 RPM.....has he tried 1200 RPM to 1400RPM? ...no idea.....is this his first WB install...looking at the grease maybe ;)
Also look at the "pad job" on the Power Phase modules left side...crooked with a big gap.....and the pad on the lower VRAM chip looks "not right at all"...yeah no idea....

Yes I did use ton of paste, I used alot less this time.   One the thermal pads came off when I flip it over which I put back on during the reinstall.  The cutting is not pretty I will admit that I wish EK would provide precut pads. I would pay extra for it!.

Anyways...

I was running fans @1,300 rpm and pump @ 50%.  Water temp was at 34-35.

I did find my problem not sure how this happen as this was new pump, rad and etc..

Looks like something is clogged in the block?  This had to come from the factory some how.

This is not my first loop.  I had 3080 FE with bitspower waterblock installed and my temps where around 45-48.  I ended up selling that computer.

I have now uninstalled the waterblock and went back with evga stock.  Temps look just fine so far.

Not sure what I want to do here.   Biggest reason I sold my other computer b/c I wanted to get away from the custom loop as  I didn't want to do maintenance on it.

Not sure but definitely see a fairly substantial air bubble in the block....some gunk maybe in 1 set of fins....but I have had an EK Block on both my 1080Ti's (SLi) whereby I hadnt flushed in 2.5 yrs...when I took the blocks apart the fins were a little clogged with some gunk but temps were still fine......
If your RGB lighting capable was firmly attached and the wire wasnt squished when you took it apart to inspect, I would say a defective RGB strip in the end of the Block and that alone is worthy of a replacement....contact EK Support.

That picture with the gunk was after I drain the loop.    This is the block completely drain and almost looks like its completely almost blocked off one side.

I have already submitted RMA with the company where I bough it from.

If it's the blue stuff I see it's the garbage colored fluid. Plenty of other people have been burned by it.

He just filled the loop so its not that....there were issues with some dye colored coolants reacting with inner wall flex tubing causing deterioration and gunk build up in the fins of cold plates (CPU n GPU Blocks)....  iirc that was maybe 4 yrs ago.....although this problem has been resolved w better quality coolants and flex tubing...hardline pretty much non existant I believe...it still has me spooked enough to stick to clear concentrates

Hi this is post is  for FlavorII. I recently tried to install the same waterblock and back plate as you but on a 3080ti. Long story short I did not apply the correct amount of thermal pads on the back plate and when I turned on the computer a little smoke came from the card and now I have a $1800 brick of a card. My questions for you are:
1. Did you short your cards out and what did you tell EVGA to get them to RMA the cards.
2. If I do get another card do you have any advice for how to apply the thermal pads the correct way?
3. Also in the region of the GPU where the four screws mate the GPU to the water block one of my stands came apart but i am still able to screw it down pretty tight almost squishing the plastic washer. Do you forsee a problem with this?
Thank you in advance if you can help.

I know you guys have succeeded in getting these installed, but after shorting out 2 cards attempting this I am too terrified to try a third time when EVGA has been pretty cool with my RMAs so far.

Well, I ordered my EK water block for my 3080 FTW3 back on September 20th from EKWB.com, which wasn't in-stock yet, but was going to ship as soon as it did become available.  Cool, no problem with that!  So, it finally ships around September 30th via DHL, and arrives stateside October 3, shortly thereafter is handed over to USPS for the rest of the delivery route to my home.  On the day scheduled to be delivered to my home, the USPS driver could not find my house (new, substitute driver it seems) and that driver flagged my package with a "Incorrect number - Return to Sender".  That basically flags that package as not having the correct delivery address in it (which it was correct, btw).  I contacted USPS as soon as I saw the issue on the USPS tracking page on their website, and drove up to USPS  to hopefully pick up the package in person before they actually tried to sent it back.  I was too late, or at least they could not locate the pkg when I went to try to pick it  up..

Anyway, so the package was sent back to DHL from USPS where it still sits.. somewhere.  I've contacted DHL and USPS both to try to locate it and get a re-delivery done.  Even have EKWB CS involved and trying to locate the package and get it sent back..  Got a email a few days ago from DHL saying they 'located' the pkg, but needed me to confirm my address, as it was flagged on being the wrong address on the pkg.. which again, it was correct from the get-go.  Haven't heard anything back from DHL, and the pkg on DHL tracking has been on the "Exception - Shipment is on hold" status since October 21st.

Good times.. I just want my Water block!!  (and the other EK goodies I ordered)  This was not EK's fault in any way.. just a good ol' shipping error.

That really sucks. I was infuriated at USPS when I read your post. They are idiots there. Every day I get my neighbors mail because they don't know how to sort mail anymore there I guess.

Too bad....a bit of a drag especially when anticipating new toys.....here in Canada DHL does not go thru Canada Post at all in the delivery process....as in DHL delivery straight to the door, ordering direct from EK Slovania delivery to Vancouver Island Canada has always been fast and painless......likely cause Canada Post isnt involved :)
