Got the EK Velocity (version 2) water block installed last evening on the new 3080Ti FTW3 Ultra and completed my leak test overnight.

Some initial OC's started out fairly mild and pushed up to +180 Core / +1100 Memory.
I havent bothered updating vBIOS or FW ....its all stock on the Card.

Boosts to 2100 Mhz / Avg 2070 Mhz....thermals indicate decent contact on the Block, also went with Kryonaut grease (thin layer spread over die),
GPU-Z shows Max Power draw 422w.
Room Temp (ambient) 19c, GPU 21c (idle)
Max temp GPU core looping PR for 20 min is 43c/45c

As always just used stock thermal pads that came with the block (all 1mm with 1mm, 1.5mm and primarily 2mm on the nickel back plate) tighten down all screws including back plate until they wont tighten no more.

9900k I haven't mucked with, pretty much just leave it at my 24/7 OC 5 Ghz all cores 1.295v

There is more under the hood yet, but will dial back OC's to +90 / +675 and get into a little marathon of CB77. That game certainly doesn't seem to like very high OC's at all (without crashing), from what I saw on my 3080 Card.

For initial boot up and trials happy with the results so far, didnt even bother re-installing drivers after HW swap, usually I do, but got lazy

very nice!!!

do you mind me asking what kind of sustained CPU load temps and your coolant temps with the i9 at stock clocks?  I have the 11700k and a similar build... just curious.

Depends on which game I'm playing. For example on warzone cpu temps go to mid 60s but gpu is in the high 40s and coolant temp is mid to high 30s. But in games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla cpu temp is in the 50s. And coolant is about the same.

Edit* right now coolant is 15C over ambient and cpu is at 65C. GPU is at 50C. This is playing warzone.

So in case I want to repaste with Kryonaut and tighten the screws more, shall I warm up the whole block with a hair dryer or something to make the original pads softer? Cannot let it run hot in the system itself as I have hardtubes and it would take too long to remove the card.....

I'm using Kryonaut already and my results are 18-20C over water while drawing 450W. I have tightened my screws to the point where they are stuck in the standoff. Unscrewing them actually undoes the stand-off n the WB itself.

Your time may not be worth it unless you have worse results than mine. But if you must, just run a benchmark for awhile like Timespy Extreme or Port Royal, do the 20 loops, and the card should be warmed up. Nothing beats having the card itself actually warm up and heat the pads directly. Then remove the card, remove the backplate and see if you can tighten all the screws any further.

So I have repasted with Kryonaut and got the screws tighter. It is running with 16C delta now at 400w, so around 3-4C cooler. Should be the same like your 18-20 delta @ 450w?

At the end you’re right, all those old rules of thumb in the forums that 10c is good and 20c delta is bad are from old 1080-2080 times, you cannot compare this to a 400-450w beast like the ftw. I wonder what the 40xx era will bring….

Hey guys, what's your Hot Spot and Memory Temps on Water cooled cards?

I’ve decided to do a custom loop for my rig for the first time . Grabbing the EKWB front and rear water block for the 3090 FTW3 hybrid she gets pretty hot even with that 240mm AIO seen it get into the 80s in cyberpunk over the summer and had to turn all my OCs off , anyone know of a tear down of that card posted anywhere ?

that and can anyone recommend a toolkit that would have all the small bits I’d need to disassemble it

It's pretty simple, though that particular active rear plate was backordered until 10-1-21 is now pushed back to 10-31-21.  I cancelled my order placed back in late August as waiting another 30 days wasn't tolerable.  I have a Dell 3090 running EK front and rear active plates, a 3090ftw3 running Bykski front and rear active cool and a 3090ftw3 factory hybrid running the factory cooler on the GPU and a Bykski rear VRAM cooler.  They all run about the same temperature.  The dell may run 2-3 degrees cooler, but it is not tolerant of over clocking and runs slower.  Mine run 100% round the clock mining.  VRAM stays about 74C, GPU runs 38-41C.

I had an old mini bit driver kit I used to use back in the day to work on cell phones when I needed to that had everything I needed in it. (Which is really just 2 phillips bits)  Something like this :

I don’t mind waiting on the back order for the EKWB blocks going to grab the expensive parts of the loop my self like the radiators and blocks and wait for the holidays to get the tubes and fittings for Xmas from family

I just installed my block 3080TI and having temp and RGB issues. I have already taken the card part once and everything looks like it made good contact.

I need to take the card back again as looks like one the pads came off, not sure if it for the back of the card or gpu side :(

GPU Temps  are hitting 68+ within 10mins in heaven.  Water temp is around 39-40c.

Corsair 5000 RGB, 360 EK Rad, EKWB EK-Quantum Kinetic FLT 120 Pump/Res @1800 RPM(I did have the pump at full with same result), Fans @900 RPM

All the RGB is not even lighting up.

CPU is on AIO.
