Hello Eze2kiel, I'm pretty sure Sajin is saying that you already have the latest bios and there is no need to update.:)

Many thanks dlbsyst.
You're welcome.;)

hello,

1st post on the forum

I am the new owner of a 1080FTW hybrid bought just 2 weeks ago from the US (I live in Japan)

i have managed to get the card memory controller to OC to 12Ghz, stable in Heaven benchmark and heavy Gaming sessions.

using MSI afterburner for overclocking purpose, the Memory frequency slider wont go any further than 1,000Mhz anyway

So I guess flashing this BIOS wont do anything better for me right?

thanks

If you update your vbios you'll be able to possibly push your card to 13 GHz on the memory.

thanks for the quick feedback, much appreciated.

would be great if the memory could scale that way but I have an experience with a ZOTAC 1080 AMP extreme+(with a 11Ghz module hardware) that I could only OC to 12.2Ghz so I am not sure if the FTW would allow me to go that far.

I am going to do some sanity check before flashing anything, following the post from Juliusdigital on this thread.Just conscious that my card is a FTW not FTW2 or SC2 so I am taking a gamble here if I proceed, although dual Bios on this card helps of course.

I have reached Heaven scores above 3200 at 127fps avg as well as above 25,000pts graphics score in firestrike, all that with temps around 50degC so the card is a beast already but you know, temptation....

anyway, any input again is much appreciated

Definitely a gamble, but who knows it might work. Let us know how it goes.

sure but I am going check BIOS versions currently on the card before anything else, they might be similar to what I see addressed on this thread for FTW2/SC2?

also how the EVGA dual Bios works?excuse my ignorance, its the 1st time I have the card with suhc feature.

If I flash the FTW2 BIOS file under say the primary bios and the card will get corrupted, I would be able to boot anyway from the secondary BIOS

but does that mean I wont be able to mess around with the primary Bios and will have lost teh DUAL BIOS feature?

Or would that be possible to recover the primary BIOS from NVflash and how?

sorry if that sounds like noob questions but again 1st time I am dealing with such feature

thanks

Yes, that is correct. To recover the primary you would simply boot the card from the secondary, and reflash the primary vbios using nvflash.

Note: You'll need to move the vbios selector switch from the secondary position to the primary position while inside windows before flashing with nvflash.

took the plunge last night,it worked.

switched the card to slave Bios and flashed the version seen on this thread, page 12, so I am the owner of a FTW2 card now lol)

I have had the card for only 2 weeks and was only OCing from the master Bios, 2 things I confirmed was that I could now increase the power target to 130%, instead of 120% with the master BIOS

and the fan curve is more aggressive out of the box, read loud.

Funny thing though is that I can now lower the fan speed to 16% whereas it was lcoked at 56% with the FTW Hybrid master BIOS.not sure if it is related to a slave Bios feature or this FTW2 BIOS variant?

OCing wise, the new BIOS gave me a little more headroom. I could step up from the 12Ghz I was hitting with the FTW hybrid Bios to 12.4Ghz with that new one. its 200Mhz more than I could achieve with my ZOTAC Extreme+ so I was calling it a result

but obviously, effect on FPS increase is not massive, 1 fps gained in heaven benchmarks and a couple of avg fps in Project Cars2. temps remain quite comparable, around 50degC with Heaven and 47-48degC in PC2

was it worth it performance wise, yes maybe in some circumstances for example when I am south of 60FPS on my triple 1080p monitor set-up with some games maxed out and of course it is fun to run OCing

happy camper anyway, best 1080 card I have owned so far, even ahead of the ZOTAC and MSI GAMING X I had on both performances and noise/temps ratio

I know Sir.

just out of curiosity, what is the best memory OC people have achieved wit this new BIOS?
