I flashed my 1080 SC2 a couple of days ago and so far so good. It seems totally stable and fast as a whip.:)

How can I make sure I get one from Amazon with the 11 ghz ram? I mean the 11 ghz version actually has ram rated at 11ghz or is this the same ram tweaked through a bios update? The specs on Amazon rate the ram for the 1080ftw2 at 10 ghz. Must I buy direct from evga? Thanks

At this time, any card that you buy would be the 10GHz models, and you would flash it upon receiving the card. There is no ETA for an updated 11 GHz card in the marketplace at this time.

So I should wait or by waiting it will become even more obsolete?

Just guessing here, but I think EVGA just gave the new 11GHZ models the same bios treatment they do to other models of their GPU's when they bump the clock speeds. I don't know for sure until EVGA actually makes a statement, but for now I think that's all they did. Jacob though did mention that if any bios flashes to the new 11GHZ mem clock had any issues that we could revert back to the original bios. I wish there was something official about this though it would clear things up hopefully for people wanting to purchase the 11GHZ model.

I haven't had any problems with the new bios and it has the improved performance on my FTW2 just a FYI.

just find someone who has icx card taking off the cooler and the midplate and provide the numbers printed on the vram surface, then we will know the truth.

According to that catalog Micron also makes a 12 gbps vram module. Wish Evga would put those in there. That would be awesome. Anyhow not going to buy one unless I know the ram is rated for 11 gbps otherwise its just an overclock.

I would assume micron overclocked it, then slapped a new part number on the ram to make sure they know which ones test out at that speed. Kind of like a QVL testing for motherboard ram.

How do we verify that our GPU were able to unlock the 11 Ghz?

Is it an Sc2 or FTW3? Thats the first thing. Second, are you willing to take the time to test the card after flashing the bios?

Yes, I'm willing to take time to test the card. I used some benchmarks and even GPUID but it didn't detect it the 11 Ghz on GPUID.
