I'm almost certain timings were changed.

My friends used to make all the bios for voltage unlocking in the maxwell days. I haven't been in touch with them on ocn in a while but I could see if him or his brother could pull apart this bios and really see what's going on. Let me see if can get in touch with them

Yea im pretty sure timings were changed also i flashed back and forth and did clean drivers each time on my stock bios i needed to bump 6800k up to 4.3ghz to get over 20k on firestrike running higher clocks on gpu core and memory then the new bios funny how well it works on a card not even ment for it wish they would release one made for the hydrocopper.

How can I make sure I get one from Amazon with the 11 ghz ram? I mean the 11 ghz version actually has ram rated at 11ghz or is this the same ram tweaked through a bios update? The specs on Amazon rate the ram for the 1080ftw2 at 10 ghz. Must I buy direct from evga? Thanks

Because they didn't go back and rewrite the bios for that model. That is the only reason.


Go turn your gpu memory slider up to 500 MHZ yourself.

Is it stable? Probably not.

Did it give you better performance? Probable not.

Can't speak for other people's cards but I own two non-iCX 1080s.  A FTW and a FTW Hybrid.  In an earlier post, I mention my FTW card benchmarking FireStrike just fine and stable with the memory slider increased +1000Mhz.   I've observed that increasing the memory speed alone results in more performance.  Increase the memory speed and core speed, and bam, even more performance.  One, or both, can be done while still being stable.  +500 Mhz on the memory is pretty normal for EVGA cards it seems based on what other EVGA card owners have reported on forums and in videos.

For fun today, I overclocked and benchmarked my FTW Hybrid.   Right now, it's stable at 2164 Mhz boost clock (+150) and 11600 Mhz on the memory (+800).  It can bench at +1000 on the memory, but mild screen flickering occurs.   It runs the stock EVGA bios, and is in the slave bios position.  Each game has a benchmark executable file.  I run three tests at bone stock EVGA settings, then three tests with the power, temperature and over voltage sliders maxed out, and the aforementioned clock and memory speed increases.  Graphical settings are maxed out for each game.  Single 1080p, 144Hhz refresh rate monitor, an AIO liquid cooled, OC'd, and delided i7-4790K at 4.8Ghz @1.375V, uncore/cache at 4.5Ghz @1.325V, and 32GB of DDR3 ram at 2400Mhz @ 10-12-12-31 timing, Windows 7 64bit, DX11.  The following average frame rates are observed for each game:
 
BioShock Infinite: Stock 192 fps avg, OC'd 202 fps avg
GTA V: Stock 88 fps avg, OC'd 94 fps avg
Metro Last Light: Stock 88 fps avg, OC'd 99 fps avg
Shadow Of Mordor Middle Earth: Stock 151 fps avg, OC'd 164 fps avg
Rise Of The Tomb Raider: Stock 57fps avg, OC'd 62 fps avg
Tomb Raider: Stock 106 fps avg, OC'd 117 fps avg
 
I'm considering flashing this new FTW2 bios onto my FTW Hybrid, and seeing if the new bios results in more performance both at stock settings and after I overclock my FTW Hybrid.  I will report back with more benchmark results if I do.

At this time, any card that you buy would be the 10GHz models, and you would flash it upon receiving the card. There is no ETA for an updated 11 GHz card in the marketplace at this time.

Tried the new BIOS with my FTW2, it was working fine in games, had small improvements in average FPS but I couldn't watch Twitch streams anymore : all streams were freezing in a black screen after 1-5 minutes and had to refresh the page. Reverted back to the original BIOS and everything is working fine now.
 
 
EDIT : nevermind, still not working. It just worked longer than before... Have no idea why it does this then.

Just guessing here, but I think EVGA just gave the new 11GHZ models the same bios treatment they do to other models of their GPU's when they bump the clock speeds. I don't know for sure until EVGA actually makes a statement, but for now I think that's all they did. Jacob though did mention that if any bios flashes to the new 11GHZ mem clock had any issues that we could revert back to the original bios. I wish there was something official about this though it would clear things up hopefully for people wanting to purchase the 11GHZ model. 
 
I haven't had any problems with the new bios and it has the improved performance on my FTW2 just a FYI. 

Since the bios update I do get better FPS however my GPU doesn't downclock past 1341 and my memory stays at 5508..
 
Any ideas?

it is pretty safe to cross flash different brands bios on most of the pascal 1080 and 1070. looking forward to see your result from your 1080 ftw with the ftw2 bios flashed.
 
for those who has 1080 ftw/sc, simply use nvflash to flash the new icx rom directly and you are good to go. 
 
dont flash these icx rom on your classified as classified has different pwm chip meaning your card would be bricked.

just find someone who has icx card taking off the cooler and the midplate and provide the numbers printed on the vram surface, then we will know the truth.
