Before you go an reinstall windows, use DDU *google it if needed* to completely uninstall any footprints of old drivers these can conflict with your 1080. It does more than the Clean install does, it will get rid of anything nvidia related meaning old footprints of precision X,old drivers etc. This should fix your problem and also try a different Pci slot to rule out possible faulty Pci slot :) Hope this helps!

I already did DDU.  I'm not to keen on the PCI slot change being that the my mobo states to use the top slot if only one card is in use. It does state it is connected at max speed.
I can do DDU again and see what happens

On my wife's computer, I inadvertently hit the memory boost and now I get a snowstorm. I do a restart desktop opens and b4 I can get to the ap to stop it, it restarts and snowstorm again and lock up. Hell man, what can I do? Anybody with ideas? the application is PrecisionXOC.

Have you tried restarting in Safe Mode?

Or restore Windows to a previously saved Restore Point
