Well, I think I'll answer my own question. I called EVGA Sale department and asked about their latest revision which is also sold at Amazon, and they confirmed that it comes with updated bios version, termal pad installed and black screen issue fixed. I think now I can place my order.

One last question, I see many people prefers the Asus Strix 1080 OC edition over EVGA 1080 FTW. What would be your honest opinions about these 2 cards?

I tried the Asus STRIX 1080 OC and it was a good card all around except for GPU rendering (would crash my system) probably because of unstable VRAM. No amount of underclocking could make it stable for my use; worked fine in games and pretty much every other use case, just not what I bought it for.

I also have an EVGA 1080 SC which overclocks better than the ASUS ROG STRIX 1080 I had (luck of the draw) and it is perfectly stable for everything, including GPU rendering.

I just bought a 1070 FTW acx from amazon on 24/11/2016 and received it 08/12/2016 here in Japan and the gpu came without pre-installed pads/new bios. Its ok, i kind expected it, but just letting you guys know that its probably a lottery at this point.

Now I'm worried lol.. I just ordered the same card from EVGA website. Does anybody know if they'll update everything before shipping it out? Last thing I need is another faulty graphics card.

It's probably just as safe as any other card. (I didn't used to think that!) Still, I would do the thermal pads update if not factory fitted for piece of mind. Good excuse to open the card up and have a look inside while still covered by warranty. I am glad my card both before and after the mods has worked very well. A couple of months back I thought my card was doomed to a fiery death. Seems now the problem was to some degree blown out of proportion. At least, that's hope after a few months of this.

Totally. Depends on stock turnover rate. Remember if not done the warranty covers damage caused by attempting the thermal mods. It's actually a great way to have a look inside the card.
Usually such fiddling would result in invalid warranty. Personally, at the time of mod (about 6 weeks ago I guess) I was worried, and considered these pads 100% essential.
Now I can't give a percent %, but it was over blown.

Point of the post is to encourage folks to do the thermal pad mod. Not difficult, and if it's a first consider it a risk free lesson in HW. (Warranty covered damage caused by doing the mod.)
It's interesting to do this kind of thing, but what makes it special is that normally warranty is invalidated by any opening of HW. This is pretty much risk free!!

Is there info that a major price change is a foot, or just a general question? As general question I've heard nothing, but like to keep up to date with these things too.

Let us know if you hear anything!

Bought TWO Classified 1080 from Direct Canada for SLI. A week later my order had not shipped and was still in queue. Spent TWO HOURS on the phone trying to reach Direct Canada. Waited each time for 15 to 20 minutes and each time I got to number one in the queue they would hang up. Finally got through to them.  They made up some story about my credit card not being approved and to call my bank. Spent another hour on the phone with my bank. They tell me nothing is wrong with the card and it was an internal error with Direct Canada. Dropped the order and placed a new order with NCIX. They confirm stock, process my credit card for full amount and than ship one card and back order the second card.  On Tuesday they are telling me not to worry the 2nd card will ship from EVGA on January 3rd. They sounded sincere but now today I visit their website and they have discontinued the card and the card is unavailable to order which sets off huge alarm bells. Could someone at EVGA please assure me you are getting more stock and my back order will ship January 3rd.

Thanks
