Finally!!! After more than a month waiting, I successfully bought one GTX 1080 FTW from newegg just now (like literally 5 mins ago). I overnighted it immediately since I'm a Premier member.

Note: That alarm notification from nowinstock.net website doesn't even work at all or maybe it is delayed.

Interesting. My situation:
I saw they had the "backorder" option on 7/7, so I pulled the trigger. Payment was charged on 7/8, and it's still in "packaging", 4 days later.

Not all that happy, since it appears mine was "backorder" and you were able to get one done same day.

I talked to them earlier this morning (before seeing your post) and they said mine would "likely be shipped today"...

I've been a (Premiere) customer of theirs for 10-15 years (couldn't even begin to guess how much $, ordering for personal and business). My feelings are, if you don't have one, then don't charge me until you do. If you charge me, then ship it.

oh man I hope that is not the case for me. Mine says packaging now too...They shouldn't charge us if they don't even have it in-stock.

Exactly. I'm waiting to chat with them (again) right now.

In the 10s of 1000s of dollars I've spent there, I've never had anything in "packaging" longer than a day or two, even over a weekend (ordered on Friday, shipped on Monday)...

Current wait time: 25mins. I have a hunch they're telling a lot of people the same thing they're about to tell me...

goodluck with that. I have to go out now. I'll come back home and have a live chat with newegg too to waive the rush processing fee since I'm a Premier member.

The FTW version is by far the hardest card to get right now from EVGA. Every since it went on sales. Its gone in seconds when it does come up at places. You don't stand a chance against these people. Trust me. They are a dedicated bunch that literally F5 24/7. They also setup 1 click purchases. So, when it does come up. All they have to do is add to cart and submit. Or just click submit only like Amazon 1 click shopping. If you are willing to drop down to a Superclocked or FE version from EVGA. Those are a bit easier to get. Especially the FE. I have also seen places allowing a 2 card purchase. Not cool when supply and demand is so high. Newegg allows only 1 card per purchase. I mentioned earlier rumors said stock will not improve until August. It looks to be true and heading that way.

I ordered one yesterday and hardly fit in the category you described.  I get the frustration; I've had my money put aside for the 1080 FTW since before release.  I checked maybe 3 times a week on this thread, as well as setup some auto-notify options at a few retailers (as well as nowinstock.com).  I noticed a trend that they went up right as my work day was ending (sometime between 5 and 7 PM Eastern), so I periodically checked before I went home - when I remembered to.  Someone on this thread posted yesterday that it was available on newegg, and I was able to get one even though I forgot my password and had to go through the verification process because it had been so long since I ordered from that site.  Call me lucky, but I was hardly spamming F5 24/7 or setting up 1 click purchases.

Just keep trying.  They seem to be releasing more these last few weeks.

Damn.. I have been trying and trying to get a FTW or Hybrid. When will supply finally start to exceed demand?

I ended up just getting the 1080 FTW DT version on jet.com last night.  I know it isn't as good, but it will serve the person well I am building for.  He will like the RGB LED on it.  With a total shipped of $656 it is cheap compared to those that are price gouging.

Yeah I don't mind getting that version. All the 1080s max around 2050-2150 anyways.
