This seems like an unpopular thread but I'm new and I'd appreciate some help. I'm currently running a i7 920 with a GTX 260 core 216. Do I need to run two separate clients for a CPU and a GPU? I saw the beginner's guide but to be honest, I didn't quite understand.
Welcome to the team
The easiest way to get started would be to download the
GPU Tracker V2. This program will manage both your SMP and GPU clients in one simple package. You can follow this
step by step guide to step up the tracker so you start folding in no time.
Since you have an i7 and will be more than likley be using the multi-core SMP client (you'll see that mentioned in the guide), you'll want to head over to Standford's site to get your self a passkey. The passkey allows you receive bonus points for the SMP work units. Here is a a
FAQ about the passkey, and
here is the site where you can sing up to get your key. Please note that you'll have to complete 10 work units before you start to receive a bonus. After that, the faster you are able to complete SMP work units, the higher the bonus you'll receive.
If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask. There a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people on this team.
