This seems like an unpopular thread but I'm new and I'd appreciate some help. I'm currently running a i7 920 with a GTX 260 core 216. Do I need to run two separate clients for a CPU and a GPU? I saw the beginner's guide but to be honest, I didn't quite understand.

Welcome to the team

The easiest way to get started would be to download the GPU Tracker V2. This program will manage both your SMP and GPU clients in one simple package. You can follow this step by step guide to step up the tracker so you start folding in no time.

Since you have an i7 and will be more than likley be using the multi-core SMP client (you'll see that mentioned in the guide), you'll want to head over to Standford's site to get your self a passkey. The passkey allows you receive bonus points for the SMP work units. Here is a a FAQ about the passkey, and here is the site where you can sing up to get your key. Please note that you'll have to complete 10 work units before you start to receive a bonus. After that, the faster you are able to complete SMP work units, the higher the bonus you'll receive.

If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask. There a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people on this team.

The easiest way ti get folding is to download tracker here. It's a very simple program to use. Then you go to the setup tab once installed in the top left corner, then configure, if you want to fold gpu only click on enable gpu on the right side and then click on auto detect and your good to go. If you would like to fold on the cpu as well check the enable cpu folding on the left side, you'll want to use the smp client, if your processor is overclocked to 3.8ghz or higher you can fold the bigadv units which are worth a lot more points but take a lot longer to do, don't do them if your not going to fold 24/7. If you fold smp you will also need a pass key to get bonus points you can get it here. It will take 10 work units before the bonus points kick in. Also to get folding bucks from evga your folding name needs to match your forum name. And you have to enter it in your forum profile settings page. I hope this helps don't hesitate to ask if you have more questions.

Thanks for the help. That program seems to be more intuitive and easier to use. Is there anyway for me to see if the SMP bonus is in effect or will I just notice my numbers increasing?

You can keep an eye on your client stats in the stats tab, and that way you'll know when the 10 wu's are done. I'm not 100% sure but if you enter a pass key tracker may show you getting the bonus points but when you check your stats on EOC or on the F @ H site you won't be getting as high of points as tracker shows.
