Welcome! Here's the secret EVGA folding handshake that you must memorize. SeaBigBear still hasn't learned it so we don't talk to him.

That's OK cause I never need a secret EVGA folding handshake to get into the club, you must not be as cool as me cause they don't ask me for one!

Howdy all,
Just started folding today, will wait until tomorrow to see if I set it up right -
seems the standford site only updates every 24 hours?  dunno. anyways I'm using
the FAH GPU tracker and it seems to be working well.  It's certainly maxing out my card (GTX  460 EE OC)
and CPU.
On that note, is there any way of setting it up so it only uses say 10/20 % of the CPU?GPU?
I don't have a dedicated machine, so it would be nice to be able to run it in the background when
I'm gaming/working.  Plus I really don't like running my system at 100% would be nice to be
able to set it to run at 80% or so overnight etc. ( I like to have a bit of a safety margin)

Anyways, onwards for a noble cause!

Peace out

hmm that was supposed to be a screen shot of my system running. did not seem to work,
vitals are
Core i5 661 3.33 stock (yeah I know wrong cpu! I forgot to check my order when I Bought it and no returns for being an idiot!)
8 gig Ram DDR3 1333 Mhz
Evga 460GTX EE SC currently running 873 core 1900 mem

CPU running at 100% all cores @ 41 core 0 and 44 core 1 (celcius) - (coolermaster Hyper TX3 and Arctic Silver 5 thermal grease)
GTX running 100 % @ 55 degrees and 50 % fan

Power is 750 watt Antex TruePower - sucking air from below the tower
CoolerMaser RC 692 Advanced Gaming Case - 6 case fans 2 front, 2 top, 1 rear, 1 side.

No one ever taught me the secret handshake.  Hold on, did I plug him in the face with a potato?  Thought he was a used vacuum salesman.

You can set the number of cores in Configure in Tracker. With your i5, 1 core is 25%, 2 is 50%, etc. The 460 is a bit harder. You have to add a parameter to the client.cfg file (but I don't remember it). The is a gaming pause feature in Tracker's Configure.

Don't worry about it. Soon you will start to realize that the more you game, the less points you earn. How else do you explain people like Tank who spends $1,000 on a 980x chip just so it can sit there and fold all day?

well, I certainly don't have that kind of cash lying around just to 'fold' with!
I tried setting up the core selection option in Tracker, clicking apply and making sure the
applying new config settings line came up, but it kept using all the cores.
Also in the setup/configure/heat control there appears to be an option to select
'default GPU usage percent' but that does not appear to work either.
I changed it to 50% hit apply, but it continues to use 100% and when I return to
the heat control screen the percentage has returned to 100%.
strange.

Replies may appear at odd times as I am in Australia (9.30 am 26/5 or 5/26 as you put it!)

cheers
