Hey Clayton welcome to our folding team!! Were very glad to have you folding [or crunching] with us!
I don't know if it will help ,but I don't like the auto fan profiles. To me they ramp up too late and try to play catch up with temps.
If you are running precision ,there is a fan profile tab. In there you can make whatever profile you want, I find this worked better for me, when I was on air. You can pick the temp and what speed you want out of your fans. It may or may not help you, but I hope it does. Here's a section that tells about EVGA's folding promo, if you haven't seen it. http://www.evga.com/folding/
And of course if you have any questions , we have many helpful and friendly folks that are glad to help.

Hey guys, new to the club. Running 2 gtx670 FTW's and an I7 3770k @ 4.9Ghz. So how does the bonus points work, as in how do they link to this account? Also, how do i get a sweet sig banner that shows my stats?

Welcome, Seadog.

The bonus works like this:
You need to get a passkey from here, then enter it into the client, either during installation or through one of the control panels (Web Control->Change Identity or Advanced Control->Configure->Identity tab).

Once it's entered, you need to prime the passkey by completing 10 bonus-eligible Work Units; before that, you will only be getting base points.  All WUs run on your CPU are bonus-eligible.  Currently there are some issues with the servers that give out bonus-eligible GPU WUs, so most of the WUs that your 670s get only earn base points no matter what and will not count towards priming the passkey.

The bonus points are credited based on how quickly you return WUs, and is calculated from the time that the WU is sent out to your computer to when it's returned.  If the piece of hardware folding a particular WU is not running because you're gaming, or the computer is off, etc., then the bonus points will continue to decrease during that time.  The bonus equation is exponential, so halving your return time would more than double your Points Per Day; the Pande Group really likes WUs returned quickly.  But don't feel bad if you want to game or do something else.

If by "this account" you mean your EVGA account, then the passkey is not directly linked.  FAH publishes everyone's stats publicly.  EVGA grabs its members' stats and keeps track of them locally.  So, having a bonus-qualified passkey will earn you a lot more points, which EVGA will see, but EVGA is not in any way responsible for the passkeys themselves.

For sig banners, see here.  Note that you need to be in EOC's stats database first, which means you need to have completed at least one WU and wait a few hours.  FAH updates its stats at the top of every hour, while EOC, which uses the stats that FAH publishes, only updates every three hours.

One thing to watch out for is that FAH's stats servers don't usually get around to WUs that were returned too close to the update, and EOC will be similarly delayed.  So, if your first WU was turned in at 8:46 am CT (the time zone that EOC is in), FAH's system will in all likelihood not credit that WU on the 9 am CT update, meaning that EOC won't credit it in its 9 am update.  It should be handled by the 10 am FAH update, which means that EOC will get to it in its 12 pm update.

Thanks a ton. Got mine up finally lol. So when it comes to "redeeming" the evga bucks, which i understand are not the reason we fold, how would we go about that? Sorry if it's a noob question. I just like to know all the details and how things work. Also, if I change my  name to match my EVGA log in name, will that change my stats? OR is it all linked via passkey? Thanks again.

If you haven't already, make sure to enter your name here.  This is required for EVGA's system to track your stats.  They prefer your EVGA name and folding name to be the same, as the system can handle that automatically, but if they're not you can PM mod EVGA_Rob and he can manually set it.  It sounds like you're planning to change your folding name anyway, which is probably the simplest solution at this early stage.

Once the above is taken care of, you actually redeem your Bucks by going to this page.  When you've hit either monthly milestone, a button will appear there saying "[point value] Request for [MM/YYYY]", e.g. "750k Request for 04/2014" for hitting 750k points in April.  Click on it, and within a few days you should get an email saying the milestone has been approved.  The Bucks should be credited to your account within a few days after that.

As to the issue of changing your name, any folding points you've accrued with one name will not be carried over to a new one.  Since you've only been running a couple of days and likely haven't qualified the passkey yet, that's not a major issue.  Those points will stay credited to that passkey, however.  But EVGA doesn't check the passkey, just the user name.

If you're wondering why this seems a bit complicated, it's because it wasn't implemented all at once.  For the first several years there were no passkeys.  At one point there was a spate of cheating going on, which they handled by zeroing out the points of the usernames in question (this is their standard response).  I believe some of those names were being contributed to by multiple people, and most of the contributors were not cheating, but there was no way to tell which points were contributed by honest donors and which were contributed by the scammers, so everyone's points were removed indiscriminately.  They created the passkey system so that in the future, if there's a similar situation, they can make that distinction; they can see that, for example, "Brian1" with passkey "30h23fu923hf8djf" is on the up-and-up, but that there's a bunch of borged computers contributing to "Brian1" without a passkey, or with a different passkey, and they'll only remove the points credited to the latter.  I think a more typical account system using your email address would have been better in hindsight, along with not letting multiple people contribute to the same name, but that's far in the past and it would probably be rather disruptive if they tried to change now.

Thanks for the reply. I had qualified with 19 WU already, but i guess i just have to change the name and take the hit :(. They(I'm assuming Stanford) should look at making the change for the next year to something a little more organized for their own sake, but i guess if this works for them, no need to change it.

OK...i tried to fold using core 17 but project 8900 refused to start...for a whole day it was at 0.0% unknown. Didn't know what to do so went back to regular core 15 and can now do 10k on CPU and 8.5k on GPU which is an improvement over not folding at all...

Funny because even though there was no progress the GPU was still lagging very hard...way slower than core 15 folding to the point of unusability. Weird because the card would plateau at 64° while right now it folds at 69-71°, never higher, never lower.

Some strange sorcery going on here.

make sure you leave a cpu thread open for each gpu under core 17
if you don't the gpu will become cpu starved and can hang (the new gpu client core core requires 1 thread per GPU...actually slightly more from my experience)

so for a 3770k leave 1,2 or 4 threads open (1 for single GPU 2 for 2GPUs, 4 for 3 gpu's)

I know this is late, and you probably already figured this out, but if not. You can set the CPU threads just like the GPU in the config for the CPU. If you have any questions just reply.

Hello all,

I previously made a brief introduction while searching for help on the forums, but now it is time from the "official" into. I'm Zac and I recently got back into folding (played around with it here and there previously) now that my main rig is operational.

I am currently running my gaming rig of an I7 3770k and GTX 760 FTW . I plan on upgrading further in the gpu department later adding 1-2 more cards and a water cooling system. My main intention is to get my old rig up and running as a 24/7 folding rig, but that will take time.

I've recently had some major shifts in life due to people dear to me that have caused me to want to focus more on folding long-term. I will save the details for a future "Why we fold" thread. As for now, I just wanted to say hi. From a long-term evga supporter/fanboy (2007), to a first time dedicated (hopefully) folder:

Love being a Noob.  I recently left my team over at OCN and here I am!  I have been folding for around 10 years from a 5 rig gpu farm to what I have now which is a 24/7 i5, i3 and 750ti.  I have and do fold on my 780 as well as other cpus as necessary.  I was directed here from Modzoo.com from another member and am thinking about signing up here.  Anyone have any tips to get started?  Do I just add the team number to my rigs?  Are there teams like OCN?  Love EVGA and

Any help is greatly appreciated.
