What a joke that was.

5090 supposed to appear for sale 9am EST January 30th according to NVidia notify email.

At 8:50am I was sitting on the 5090 page with the "buying options starting at $1,999" button, and the shop link from it open in another tab.

At 8:58am the shop link page on refresh changed to "secure connection failed" error, and has been like that ever since. Didn't even get so much as a look at the 5090 shop page. Not even the normal shop page is available, let alone 5090. Still the same error now, 20 minutes later.

At 9:01am the 5090 page with the "buying options starting at $1,999" button changed back to the previous "notify me" button.

F*%@# bots. Bet we'll see a heap of 5090 Founder cards appear on EBay soon, all priced at $3,000+. It would seem there is absolutely zero chance of getting the Founders at retail price.

This happens with every new series release. Why is it that NVidia can't ever get a decent stock in hand before release date? Just pisses me and everyone else off.

I was auto-notify with BB and nVidia.  No email from BB or nVidia, but could add the 5090fe to cart at 6am pst at BB.  Supposedly, the 5090fe was priority to subscription members.

This is the first FE I wanted.  AIBs are asking crazy MSRP.  Only reason to pay a little more would be slightly cooler running GPU & mem on MSI.

Maybe I'll snag a 4090 instead, they'll probably be selling relatively cheap soon.

I don't think there were any I got a direct notification from MSI but it was only the preview page...I want to hear what happened to people who camped out at Microenter. The rumors about lack of stock were extremely exaggerated, there was almost 0 stock. No AIBs lit up anywhere. B&H Said they might start pre-order next week on the 6th.

I think the cruelest part of the joke is the vapor-Launch at lunar new year so the build up of stock will be at the worst possible time. It's going to be a while...

My 2 cents on the subject is this is exactly what Nvidia wants and does purposely.  Stifle supply while there is demand.  Allows them to keep prices inflated.  Nvidia has proven over several years now how little they actually care for the average consumer/gamer.

With the uplift of the 5090 over the 4090 being mediocre (and my priority being a 240Hz WOLED 32" monitor), I'll be sitting out this generation. Looking at the Australian sites, the price is absolutely stupid... $1800 AUD over what I bought my ASUS TUF 4090 OC for at launch for the equivalent 50-series!

Scalpers are going to find that the 5090 is only really amazing on like 75 games. Most of the titles it's got just like a 25% increase over the 4090 which is pretty small compared to the normal generational increase of a graphics card.

The real problem is that the 4090 was able to crush any game so the rush to upgrade will not being as high especially for a large increase in price.

we will see, it sure looks like people will spend $2K & all they get is an extra 6-8 fpm over a 4090.

Maybe Nvidia has only released Beta drivers & they were holding back performance - once drivers are updated we should know the full performance possibilities quickly

I'm not surprised the availability of 5090 was much lower than the demand for the new GPU
