Hey guys.

I'm writing this post because I got a bit confused about thermal pads sizes. I tried watching a lot of videos and even asking customer support team. In the first reply I was told that any pads between 2.25 and 2.75 thickness are OK with 3070TI FTW3. In the second reply after I asked some if the tiny pads are also ok with 2.25-2.75 the team answered that ALL of pads are 2.25mm and that there were no small pads on this card (rly?all videos and photos shows that there memory pads, long mosfets pad and a little tiny pad).

Screenshots in attachment. I want to know the reliable info before I begin repadding and repasting.

So I think I'm convinced that for VRAM 2.25 mm is perfect. Ok, next.
What about a long strip and a tiny one? Considering the differences between answers, is 2.25 mm OK for a long strip and 1mm OK for a tiny one?

I mean no disrespect to evga support team, i'm loving their products, but I think it's strange that they wrote that there are no small pads when they are here.

I COULD BE WRONG, but I think EVGA uses thermal putty in those places, and that is why they don't specify thermal pad thicknesses relevant to those locations.

I've never seen putty on 3070TI FTW3 pics. Btw, the last pic shows the original evga thermal pads and paste after some usage, so no putty, just different pads and paste.

+ the pic from techpowerup review. The same scheme. So what's the true and safe size of the long and the tiny pads?

To me, that looks like putty. Especially the small round blobs.

From the factory the 3070 ti ftw uses thermal putty and pads. The thermal putty use to be available under cooling on the website, but has been removed

Yeah these 2 blobs seem to be thermal putty and can be easily replaced with smaller than 2.25mm pads.

So I replaced thermal pads and putty with thermal pads 2.25 mm everywhere except 1mm for two tiny details. Maybe not a perfect look, but guess what I got - from ~105-110 C on memory to 65-75 C under load! No copper nonsense risky bs, just good thermal pads.

Here are pics:
1. View after cleaning with alcohol 99% and replacing pads and paste.
2. Temps before.
3. Temps after.

Although it seems that the OP has worked out the answer, I can confirm that the 3070 Ti FTW3 cards only have three different sizes of thermal pads - MOSFETS, 2x VRAM, and 1x VRAM - and they are all 2.25mm thick.  That last small section of what looks like a thermal pad is putty, since none of the documents I have show a thermal pad in that area.

Thanks. Is it ok that I placed 1mm micropad (cyan color) instead of dry as rock putty?
