Assuming this is true, I'm really interested in the PCIe allocation of Z790 Classified.  Since the press release didn't mention PCIe 5.0 x8/x8 on Classy; I'm guessing slot "PE2" is PCie 3.0 x4, and "PE3" is PCIe 4.0 x8??? or are both x4 electrically?

Also, THANK YOU EVGA for including 10GBe on both boards!   Can't wait to see what these are capable of with the new I9

Classified is PE1 x16/x8 Gen5, PE2 (the x4 slot) is x4 Gen4, and PE3 x8 Gen 5.

I have 2 questions:
  1. Is there a 2-pin thermal header somewhere on the board this time (either KP or Classy or both)?
  2. Will there be an official bios update to use 13th Gen CPU on Z690, meaning it would be mostly pointless buying a Z790 if I already have a Z690?
Thanks.

To the first, yes, there's supposed to be one on both.  Haven't seen a picture yet of the boards sans heatsink so I can't confirm yet, but it's on the spec sheet I have.

To the second, yes, there will be an official BIOS at some point.  Until now, it's been an unreleased product.

Thank you Lee! Very happy see see the 2-pin thermal header finally!

Yeah, after this board I'm hooked. This thing is solid as a rock. I want the next one please.

Outstanding!  Thank you for clarifying Lee

It was clearly great to see some good news coming out from EVGA. Hopefully signaling business as usual! The new KP arrival and Vince sticking around for the Z790 MB design is indeed welcomed. I also noticed some talk about the wondering and if it's actually worth upgrading to a KP Z790 and by comparing or highlighting the very few visual differences made available to date. This initial wondering was perhaps that EVGA has been a bit light in not exactly furnishing a more 'deeper-dive' into all of the new KP generational improvements and head-to-head with their outgoing Z690 MB products?

I would also think that the pricing for the new KP Z790 will be close to the $1000 mark as the Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme is touted to be over $1200. With this kind of estimated halo MB pricing the thought prevails to what level will EVGA be ‘sales-pricing’ the Z690 (KP) to clearing their shelves and to attracting those who initially did not have the deep pockets to simply realizing or snagging a Kingpin. Economic times as we all know are tough and with really no end in sight! As to myself I am interested in making a jump to the new KP and upgrading away from my trusty Z690 Classified. Until then and for now, I however remain in anxiously awaiting that we all will very soon be rewarded with a deep-dive by EVGA into the new KP board design, its exact tech-details and advantages in tune with the 13th Gen Intel series.

I don't feel like the Extreme is a fair comparison for a price point.  For Extreme ASUS seems to have the kitchen sink approach, put as many bells and whistles on the thing and load the box full of extras.  I would likely put the KP more aligned with Apex on price point (a more overclocking focused board).  I'd assume EVGA come in at a similar range that they did for Z690, probably at $800.

Now if EVGA throws in an e-leash and the PCIe release stick with the Z790, then we're blowing way past that $1K price point.

I got a good laugh when I opened the box and saw the release stick.

But thank you, Lee. The thermal sensor header is a great addition.

Oh gee, I had come look see the EVGA Z790s will exist, I got no email what so ever, news wise. And to top it all off my Intel i9-12900k was deflective, trashed by a ASUS BIOS Z690 ROG Strix. from the start 90+ days ago. I am getting a brand new i9-12900k when instead I could of bought the i9-13900k for same price. Noticed the Dark also does get 10Gbps and 2.5Gbps NICs.
