I’m pretty sure they’re talking about the Dark, which competes with the Asus Apex, so the pricing seems competitive. There are very specific differences in the Asus lineup that are not power or VRM related that dive their wider offering and price range - most notably pcie lane handling and lack of 10gbit. EVGA is only offering the peak of capability and a step under it because they know we’re extremely picky nerds.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ve only bought Asus boards up till now. I’m in the middle of switching my GPU preferred partner to Asus and my Motherboard to EVGA. It’s just a happy coincidence that it will all be EVGA for a while. These EVGA boards will be an extremely stable and capable platform, and we know it so we’re waiting - even though the 13900k on my desk is burning a hole in my patience.
If you have a cpu still in the box like me, just know you’re not alone and it will be worth the wait provided you are not looking for a deal/undercut in the z790 space. I will drop an evga reference in my thanksgiving speech at my family dinner should the board release before then.
May you all reach fantastic clock speeds and system stability.
