Hi,
I am new here. Before I make the purchase of this great mobo, would appreciate some advise on the following questions :
1. What is the space between the 2 x16 slots ? 80mm i.e. 4 slots ? As I plan to house 2 RTX3090 (triple slot 57mm) on it.
2. Any heat issue if using air-cool ? Any experience to share how to make the rig as cool as possible will be much appreciated e.g. fan, case, psu, etc. Room temp here is around 29-32 celcius
3. What NVLink/SLI bridge is suitable to link up these 2 3090 GPU ? 3 slot or 4 slot type ?
4. I can see there is no video on this mobo, as such, does it make sense to get a intel 12xxxK or 13xxxK cpu ? Or it will be good to get a 12xxxF or 13xxxF cpu (a bit savings) ?
5. Any other limitation/issue I should be aware ;p
two triple slot 3090's would be as close to each other as possible; and therefore it would be much better going with a single 4090. (I just bought an "MSI RTX 4090 Suprim Liquid X" after much research.) Remember DLSS 3.0 is only supported on 4090 or 4000 series but 4090 is the only option for the 4000 series because the rest are a joke for what u get compared to the cost of a 3090 now.
Knowing both the Make and Model# of the 3090's u plan to use would help ppl advise u. Under-clocking them may make it more feasible; but being so close together is nuts if both are triple slots. Others with SLI experience may disagree and that's cool with me because i'm sure they know what their talking about. i've had five different SLI setups: 560ti's, 760ti's, 1070's, 1080ti's, and 2080ti's. But never with two cards so close to each other. With my 3090 it was obviously time to move on from SLI.
there are vids on the EVGA z690 Clssified. Like "
The Classified is BACK!" by JayzTwoCents (Jan 11, 2022). and good Article/Reviews... Google: "
EVGA z60 Classified Review".
As far as why i bought it... well it's EVGA's!
And in 2016 i accidentally overlooked them, when building a Gaming rig, and promised myself that the next gaming MOBO i got would be an EVGA. And when it was time in January 2022, low and behold, the z690 was just days away from release.
i was one of the 1st 50 ppl with their hands on it.
It's been my best ever MOBO!!! for 14 months now. (Original BIOS and Driver still.) Everything has been perfect.
As far as other info... if u
never had an EVGA MOBO
before like
me (Z690 Classified was my 1st EVGA board), but like me u have 26+ years experience building PCs... u shouldn't have a problem. But maybe, updating the BIOS for 1st time; some 1st time EVGA MOBO owners have had trouble. But again, it all depends on one's level of experience... So realize it supports 12000 series Intel CPU's with the BIOS it comes with... but for a 13000 series Intel CPU's, u need to "Blind Flash" it. And that can be difficult for some ppl. It shouldn't be if u have "Blind Flashed" a BIOS a dozen times before with other brands of MOBO.
