While I prefer the Nvidia reference designed cards, for my latest PC upgrade I purchased a rather disappointing 12G-P5-3955-KR video card. In trying to increase its performance to "average", I've run into the limit of the Power Target setting of 105%.

In response to a question about Precision X1's ability to configure slightly high settings, I was told it's a firmware limitation. It would require a "higher power limit " BIOS.

Looking on the download page and video cards forum, the only BIOS appears to address the limit is the: "EVGA GeForce 30 Series HYBRID/XOC/Default BIOS" thread. (Although, most posts in the thread reference the FTX and Hybrid cards.)

Is this the only "officially" released BIOS that can permit increasing the Power Target?

Thank you for the info.  I ran the BIOS for the 3080 FTW3 HYBRID, and I am now seeing that I have an ULTRA Hybrid in X1.  Is this common for the FTW3 to show as an ULTRA after running the bios update?
I have been troubleshooting an issue where my aio radiator fans with the hybrid rev up on their own when I am in a game.  Regardless of fan control settings in X1, or if I close it and try to use Afterburner, my fans will rev to 100%.

Technically, all the HYBRID cards in the 30 Series are considered "ULTRA", since they all are factory overclocked out of the box.  Leaving aside that you can probably find some confusion on our marketing/naming on the products which don't necessarily say "ULTRA", there is only one version of each HYBRID card.

Regarding the fan issues, I'll send you a PM.

I have the same fan issues. Could you help me if you found a fix for it?

Just out of curiosity, why does the RTX 3090 FTW3 card have a 500w vBIOS but the higher end 3090 Ti FTW3 have a 480w vBIOS? Is the XOC vBIOS for the 3090 Ti FTW3 coming? I would expect at a minimum 500w to match what crappy Zotac is offering for their cards or 515w that Asus is offering on their cards.

Agreed. Maybe they want to make sure everything is stable on the first cards out to the public before offering it. If they don't, I'm sure someone will bake one up and I think it would be in EVGA's interest to offer an official one so a ton of people aren't flashing some other random BIOS they found somewhere.

Better yet, how about 525w as the pci-e lane(75w) and 16 pin(450w) should be able to handle that.

I agree!

ASUS currently has a 516W limit on their 3090 ti, so EVGA should at least be able to match this on their XOC bios.
This card runs extremely cool for the amount of power running through it. It will handle 500W+ on the default cooler. I mention this because one could argue that the OG EVGA 3090 FTW3's cooling was borderline for that much power. EVGA have vastly improved their default coolers going from 3090 FTW3 to 3090 ti FTW3.

Well right now EVGA hasn't even responded. I made a post about the power limits being lower then the old 3090 and it went unanswered. I'm hoping they are just tuning the XOC or higher PWL version for release soon.

So i have a recent 3090 FTW3 Ultra card.. Is their any reason to flash to a Hybrid Bios if i'm now using a EK front and back block?? Does it give a higher power limit or is it just a Name change in PX1?

There shouldn't be any difference between the bios' interms of performance. I would shy away from using the hybrid bios as more than likely, the fans may not operate correctly (different rpm range/count).

Yeah i'm not too worried about fans as i dont have any ;).. if theirs no difference then why bother.
