Hello everyone, first post here.

I had the 3090 FTW3 for around 3 days now and just this morning, while I was playing the Witcher 3, my screen went black with the gpu fans stuck at what sounded like 100%. Prior to crash, I was monitoring the temps and the highest it reached was 73 C. It appears that the PC boots all the way to desktop as I hear a custom startup noise I set using a pair of headphones plugged into my sound card. I heard these issues may have be related to NVIDIA's drivers so I thought a simple restart would get it up and running again. Boy was I wrong. Its been 10 hours of endless troubleshooting with what ultimately led to a call to EVGA and a RMA started. I tried different monitors, different video cables, reseating the gpu, resetting the cmos on my mobo, trying it in a different pc, all in vain. I swapped in my old 1070 and all is working again. Has anyone ran into this issue. What are the chances that this will happen again when I receive my replacement gpu?

Of note, I do use a riser cable with PCIe 4.0 compatibility for vertical mounting. No issues for the first 3 days on the 3090 or now with my 1070.

The psu I'm using is listed below, and the whole system is around 8 months old.

 My specs are:
PSU: Thermaltake toughpower grand 850w
CPU: Ryzen 3950x, cooler: Corsair h150 AIO
RAM: Trident Z Neo 64gb at 3600 Mhz
Storage: 2x Samsung 970 500Gb
Mobo: Asrock Taichi x570

Check device manager to see if a display adapter is appearing with an error.

You may need to use the 1070 at the same time, if you can, to act as your display out.

If I do see an error, what can I do at that point? I know it depends on the error, but I want to know possible options.

Thanks for the reply.

If it gives an error, try reloading drivers, and then it would likely be an RMA situation unfortunately. Usually the GPU doesn’t give errors all that often.

You may have written it already and I missed it, but make sure you try other display outputs on the 3090

Man.. Looks like this issue is getting bigger then previously thought (same thing happened to my 3090 btw and had to RMA).. I'm starting to see posts about the same issue on reddit.

Same problem here. While playing,  black screen with 100% fans and finally dead.

I'm wondering if owners of asus tuf or MSI or FE have similar issue or if this is strictly EVGA related

I just had the same issue. Playing Division 2 and then all of the sudden all of my monitors went black. Now the GPU will no longer send any video output no matter what I do. I can only boot my PC using the HDMI port on my mobo.

Single red light on the card?

The only time I've seen the machine go black was from exceeding PSU limit. Perhaps a PSU issue?
