I just installed my 3090 and adjusted most of the settings in the OP.  However, my desktop icons are slightly cut off on the left side.  For example, my control panel shortcut says "ontrol Panel"

I have "no scaling, scale on display" already set, and my LG CX TV is set at 16:9 and justscan is on and greyed out.  Any advice?

edit: installing 3.11.25 resolved it...or maybe it was just that the TV was restarted during the update.

Thank you for these useful tips! What are your thoughts regarding using Gsync with Vsync? A lot of people recommend using these two together but my understanding you only use Gsync. Apparently users saying you still get tearing and the only way to get no tearing is to use vsync also. Are you experiencing the bug with frames higher than 110 with gsync on? There’s a lot of users on avsforums getting this and has been escalated to LG and they said they’re aware and working on the firmware fix. Lastly I see how using pc mode does make it a little smother but using pc mode I’m not able to use dynamic contrast in pc mode and I think it looks better with it on so I leave it in hdmi mode.

Do you know why you can’t use Dolby vision in 4K 120 at 4:4:4? People are saying you have to pick either one or the other, can’t have both on at the same time?

For Gsync to work as it is supposed to, Vsync should be on (it completely eliminates tearing). Full explanation in the second drop down here: https://blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101-input-lag-tests-and-settings/15/

Above 110, a couple games seemed to have issues for me - which might point to it being a driver issue. I cap it at 110 for now and am fine.

I am not sure about Dolby Vision at 4:4:4 (why wouldn't you use RGB like the panel takes natively?). Likely a bandwidth issue, as 40.1 might not be enough.

I turn it off and turn it back on and everything is good. It sometimes gets stuck further left and needs that nudge.

I had this problem with my LG CX until I updated to the beta software.

Once this is setup the LG and 3x series really shines... the display quality and output is truly fantastic.  Don't spend ridiculous amounts of money on HDMI cables, it's a digital signal as long as it's rated for the proper bandwidth with the right pins and gauge of wire it'll likely be just fine.  I personally use the Monoprice DynamicView Ultra 8K Premium High Speed HDMI Cable, 48Gbps, 8K, Dynamic HDR, eARC cable, the 6ft version costs a whopping $14 and it's perfect.  I use these on all 9 of the OLEDS in my house and they test solid for every video, bandwidth, and chroma test I've done so far.

I agree with everything you said except about the cables. There are so many cables on Amazon that says they are 8k 60hz 48 Gbps and they don't work for me. I went through around 10 cables before I found one that actually works. You have to go with a decent brand, like what you did with Monoprice. Although I needed a really long cable and you're more than likely to find a cable that works if it's a short cable. I finally settled on a 30 foot optical HDMI 8k/120 Monoprice cable that was dang expensive, but it actually works.

Sure, but there has to be a little common sense here.  HDMI at that bandwidth can only go a certain distance without needing a booster, repeater, or something like a fiber optic conversion.  My message implied that a cable manufactured within specs of the standard should be fine and that it doesn't require a $45 cable for this stuff to work properly.  There are plenty of $14 cables that meet or exceed the specs and work excellent.

HDMI cable? The 10 foot one here worked great for me: https://www.amazon.com/gp..._s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Sorry, I must not have been clear enough with what I was trying to get across. I tried many optical HDMI cables that were supposedly within spec, 8k 48 Gbps, and none of them worked except the really expensive monoprice one. Granted I'm focusing on optical cables, but my point just because the marketing for the cable says it is within spec, it doesn't mean that it is going to work.

Now with that being said, there seems to be much less problems with this scenario when using short non-optical cables, such as the cheap monoprice one you listed. But I've seen other people use some random short non-optical HDMI cable that didn't work with a CX and 3080/3090 and was marketed as being 8k 48 Gbps.

If you need only 8ft or less, I use Monoprice DynamicView Ultra 8K Premium High Speed HDMI Cable, 48Gbps, 8K, Dynamic HDR, eARC cable,  through my entire house.  I have all lengths, and all of them have passed the full 48Gb test just fine.

If you need more than 8ft, then you'll want to investigate different mediums, likely fiber optic, and from a quality vendor.  However to be clear quality vendor does not mean go get ripped off by someone like Monster Cable where they charge $45 for something you can get of equal function for $20 from a different brand.  Just be smart, look at the amazon reviews as most will be real clear which work and which do not.  Cheap cr*p is usually just that, cr*p.

This is exactly right, 8 ft or less, you can go with some pretty cheap cables, Monoprice is a high quality brand and their standard HDMI 8k cables are fantastic. Anything over 8 feet and you'll need to go with HDMI optical cables, which tend to be much more expensive. I needed a 30 foot run so I went with the following monoprice cable which works fantastic, but is really expensive unfortunately.
