Updated to 2H20.... so far I discovered my NVIDIA GPU performance setting somehow changed itself to "power optimization" which in turn was blocking the card from boosting 700Mhz. My static IPv4 settings were mostly, yet not entirely wiped which makes zero sense. The OS power profile settings were also partially modified. So nice of Microsoft to thoughtfully mess with settings without any notification whatsoever.

Whenever there's a sizable Windows update, I try to check all my settings, because invariably they set some of them back to defaults without telling you, it's really annoying.

I haven't had a major windows update issue in like 2 years thankfully.

That's just it, I expect this nonsense with drivers after an update. But 2H20 didn't change or nuke any drivers so I really wasn't expecting it to modify actual settings. The only time I've ever used power optimized mode for my GPU was when the AC was being replaced several years ago.

So I'm not sure how the 20H2 update installs itself, but past semi-annual updates have been essentially the "new install & migrate your stuff" type, the ones that leave a Windows.old folder for a week or two.  Those ones because it's basically a new install have reinstalled all of your drivers etc.  Really annoying for me because I have an original Saitek X52 with a "mouse" axis on the throttle and it always has to be disabled or it causes a permanent drift of the mouse cursor to the upper left.  I instantly know after if it was one of those kinds of updates or not because of that.

20H2 just installs like a regular update, and it's pretty fast because there's not really much that got changed. It doesn't reset or nuke drivers either, but it did change Windows settings.
