I suppose too that with the tasks we do that can use DP, can be done as fast with cards without DP
Just the GPU speed and new tech.
PG Genfer 20 and 21 can use DP. When I got my R9-280x they blew my 660Ti and GTX970away.
But my GTX980Ti with out very good DP is faster than my 280, to the point I stopped using them.
In fact I sold off my 280x and all my 970s a month or two ago when those cards were in demand.

If you want toasty warm for the winter, try having a folding farm well in excess of 10,000,000 PPD capability.

GTX 1070/1080/1080ti are efficient folders, but 23 of them (and more on the way) do add up to a bit of heat....

 9-)

(that's not counting my Moo/Dnet farm, or the scrypt ASIC farm that has been paying my bills the last few months).

Honestly since the bigadv debacle and all the other screwing of the donators, I do not care much about folding anymore.
They did it to me several times, they do not want you to build dedicated folding systems. They want you spare cycles. So they say.
All that folding lets students write papers. Not much more. They could not give a rats butt about the donors and how much money you spend.
BOINC WCG has really saved lives, and has produced real cures.

As far as heat for the Winter. I have well over 375 cores/threads and 9 GPus 980ti or better.
It can go below zero before I have to run the boiler for heat, if everything is up and running.

Yeah, looks like they cover all the details quite well.
WCG is very easy to get setup and crunching.

What is a good knife, good question.
I have carried a pocket knife since I was a cub-scout, back then I wore it clipped my belt in school!
Many things to consider choosing a knife.
What will it be used for, under what conditions.
I like a carbon blade, they hold their edge very well and I can hone it to shaving sharp.
Have to keep it clean and oiled or it will rust.
Stainless steel will resist rusting, harder to sharpen, but holds an edge very well.
There are many different steels to choose from. D2, high carbon, Damascus, CV, aus8 and several Chinese blends.
I good knife with have good fit and finish. The back of the blade when open will seamless with the knifes backspring.
Blade centered when closed to avoid the blade being scraped up.
The back spring should make the knife snap when opining and closing. (walk and talk).
The knifes scales should look good and even with all the edges it is near.
Some exceptions, stilettos the scales are bigger than the bolsters.
Like anything else, you want a company that honors their warranty.

Kershaw makes decent lower cost knives in the 20-50$ range.
I carry an Al-Mar Eagle Talon most of the time.
Sometimes my Case stag trapperlock, Kershaw Damascus Leek
Al Mar is AUS8 steel and weighs only 2oz and fit and finish if as good as I ever seen. Made in Japan (good thing)

Hey Cool, If you want to dip your toes in, the latest Boinc software should be down loaded from here. Not the VB one offered, the other. If you want to utilize VB later, best to download the latest version direct from Oracle. The newest Boinc Manager from Berkeley is the best. The WCG version is not updated as often.

All the above, and they inform you when they will be down with maintenance or are having a server error even a bad set of projects if there are any. Announcements when they have produced a paper on findings if there are any..... and no snotty forum mods that I have seen placing blame on the end user.....and the best part, there is sososososo much to choose from project wise.
