Is watercooling absolutely needed? Got a 5950x and 3090 but alot of the parts are out of stock that i would need to water cool. Would a good fan suffice?


 
Colder hardware = faster hardware

New hardware - just launched is always hard to find blocks for ....
 
 
Yes, air cooled can be OC however the Voltage & heat issues would limit your Max performance .... & all those fans @ 100% may be on the loud side ... depends on your room temp

Thanks so much for posting and maintaining this thread. It’s been several years since I’ve built a water cooled system and this has been very helpful in reorienting myself.

Well it seems like I did everything correct, temps are better than the AIO by over 10C on all cores... unfortunately, looks like the RGB/LED portion of my CPU block is a dud... out of everything that came with the kit, the ONE THING I did not test, the lighting on the CPU block, is the one that that's not working.
What are the odds?

Oof, that sucks. It's always the one thing that doesn't get tested though... never fails
