I  have an EVGA ftw hybrid and a gigabyte gaming oc card. will they work together or will they fight for power ? I mine at night and when im at work and i want to put as many cards in there as possible obviously. I wish NVIDIA didn't disable SLI

I am sure it will work.....just make sure your PSU have enough power to power both GPUs. Also make sure your case have enough cooling. I have seen many burned mining rigs pic....

I wondered about this, especially if someone is trying to run high demand settings like RT+4K+HDR.  Were the boards that supported that just not sell well?

It will work, but if for SLI its generally recommended that you use two of the same GPU's (and also it doesn't look as nice if they are different) but 3080's dont support sli anyways. Overclocking may have issues as well as RGB applications

Thats kinda irrelevant since the 3080 doesn't have SLI anyway there will always be only one GPU doing the work in games even when both are plugged in, what you can do though is assign a different task for one of them like rendering or that cancer called mining...Only one game comes to mind that might support this and that's Ashes of the Singularity because it supports SPF or splitt frame rendering. As the name suggests it splits up the frame in multiple sections, the more powerful the gpu the more of the frame is rendered by that card or wise versa as they both need to be done at the same time with rendering, but since each one only renders a portion of the frame it may improve FPS by a margin of 50 % ish if the cards are different but are similar in performance. As far as I know you can also force it in NVIDIA Inspector but results may vary wildly.

    Proof?

How does one SLI 3080's when it doesn't have provisions for the NVLink

For compute workloads, it will work just fine.
For gaming, you'll be on one card anyway since 3080 doesn't have SLI... Unless you play one of the handful of games that support explicit multi-adapter... Haven't seen any benchmarks recently so I wonder if it even works.

Thank you for all the responses! I get the EVGA ftw hybrid this weekend so I will let you guys know how it works out and if I even have enough room in my case haha. I might have to build another system with my spare parts

I have been on the waiting list for 7 months I think. The other one I have I got luck getting on a discord channel before the bots came around. Hopefully you get one. or you can complain on the evga twitter and then they will hook you up. I was like I have been on the waiting list for 8 months with 15 products and havent had one notification then a week later I get one. seems a little crazy... But im super happy. No more thermal throttling from my gigabyte Gaming OC

Only Rtx 3090 gpu ' s Have Nvlink connections on pcb . no Nvlink connections on RTX 3080 PCB. No way to connect Nvlink bridge. No place to plug in. It won't work.
